Tech help needed: shop fouled up my steering, don't know what to adjust
I have a GoldWing 1500 with California Sidecar Company Friendship III that I bought used last March. It had the steering damper on.
I got the fork rake setup installed in April and everything was super. Very stable. Easy to steer.
I had the rig shipped to Zurich in August, as I've moved here for work. It got damaged in transit, so was at a Honda shop for quite a while.
When I picked it up, I was jonesing to ride so badly that I ignored the bad wobble at low speeds as I drove away.
But yesterday it about killed me and two of my kids so it's time to get it sorted.
Whereas it use to be rock solid with no hands on the bar at any speed, it now wobbles badly at low speed and I HAVE to keep a hand on the bar. (I took both hands off to slip my gloves back on at about 20 mph and the wobble came on so fast and hard that my son and I were nearly thrown from the GW.)
What did the shop get out of adjustment?
Thanks!!!!

The shop more then likely adjusted the steering head bearings per Honda's specifications. Usually for sidecar use, we over tighten the bearings a bit to put a bit of drag on the front end.

Thanks for the potential lead, Jay. I'm going to follow up now with the guy back in Connecticut who installed the rake kit and see what he adjusted it to, to try to triangulate on whether that's the source of the issue.
I appreciate greatly your help!

Phil
