Shock Advice Wanted - HD
99 Road King, 95 TLE sidecar.
Still very much a beginner, slow rides on back roads, parking lot practice. Haven't tried to carry a passenger yet. I know the sidecar puts more stress on the the bike but after only a few miles I have a shock leaking fluid. Well the bike is 10 years old so I guess it's time for new rear shocks. Any suggestions from you Harley owners for shocks when running with a sidecar? I thought some of the many new bike take offs on ebay would be a economical solution but I've read that the frame changed in 09. Mine's a 99 Road King and that won't work. I really don't want to invest the time and cash in a set of used Harley shocks only to end up with the same problem. I'm not looking for the high performance $1000 plus kind. Just something that will handle the additional load. Stock Harley air shocks, Progressive, other? Thanks in advance.
I haven't had any problems with the OEM air shocks with the factory sidecar. If a leaking shock is the only problem I'd stay with OEM. It is a ten year old bike so you may be ready for new shocks anyway. If you are quite large and have matching passenger loads you might want something stiffer like Progressive Suspension Products.

I have a 2001 Road King Classic and I am also running the OEM air shocks. I put them at 10 lbs and they seem good. No trouble with them so far. (knock on wood)
Thanks guys. I'll probably just replace with OEM shocks.
