I have 79 Suzuki GS550 W/Velorex 562. Suzuki has hidraulic operated disk brakes, Velorex - cable operated drums. I need some ideas how to connect two systems. Do I have to link sidecar to front or rear brakes or live independent? Any ideas are welcome. Also would like an ideas for parking brakes for this rig and GL1500/Frendship III. Thank you.

VLAD,
Some hook the cable thing onto the foot brake lever. Need some brackets etc to hold it. Personnly I would not worry with it but that is just me.
For a simple parking brake a section of inner tube cut like a rubber band wrapped around the right handgrip and front brake lever may work for you.

You will not achieve any amount of efficient braking by trying to link an inefficient mechanical brake with an efficient hydraulic disc brake.
Fagidaboudit!!!!
Some have setup a ratchet handle and used the Velorex brake as a parking brake though with some success.

I have 81 Suzuki GS550 W/Velorex 562
The Hook-up for side car brake that I'm working on is;
Wildwood Slave Cylinder Pull Type 260-1333 to the mechial arm of the sidecar drum brake. Bracket for slave cyl. to mount on backing plate or swing arm I'm not quite sure where yet my self.
Double Banjo bolt to the rear master cylinder with 35 degree banjo tee with 1/8 npt male thd. with a Russell Brake Line Quick Disconnect 601-333.
I might need to put in a Adjustable Proportioning Valve to ballance the bike rear brake and sidecar so that brakeing will be equal.
Hope this helps and if any one else have gone this way may be they can share what pit falls they came across.

Gene,
Please Let us know how that works after you have it done. Would also be interested to see if you think it was worth the effort and money.

actually, brakes on the sidecar are more of a personal preference, albe it a safety reason,,some like 'em and use 'em some dont use them and never will..
Your light bike with the disk brakes would seem more than enough to haul down the light Velorex SC rig, without all the mess of trying to hook up the brake for it.
I would ride it for awhile and get used to it, see if you really need it. then make the decision.
I will be chastised here for recommending not to use it, but that is my, and many others opinion.
for the record, I have a '73 BMW /5 with drum brakes and a large MV FII SC. No SC brake.
no problems stopping, even when haulinmg my wife, and large cargo trailer all over the country.

Just for the record I agree with Bob on this 100%.
