I just got a '04 TLE sidecar to match my '04 FLHTPI What I didn't get in the deal was the brake pedal ,master cyl. &
Remote reservoir . I got my hands on a '78 FXR master cyl. & reservoir . What I need to know is what brake pedal will work to finish this set up. If anyone knows please let me know so I can start digging up the rest of the parts...

Thanks

Are you sure this master cyl will work? A 78 sidecar would have had a drum brake, an 04 has disc. More fluid gets moved in a disc brake than a drum. (That's why cars have a bigger reservoir w/disc brakes.

I've got a new take off 2010 FLHX rear master cylinder and brake pedal available.

Will that work?

42407-02 is the part number for the brake pedal that clears the front sidecar mount on a 2004 Harley with a TLE sidecar. The remote reservoir that you have from an FXR will work OK. I'm not sure about the configuration of the FXR brake master cylinder. All you really need is the remote brake master cylinder cover, P/N 42457-95. There are two circlips that are removed to take the stock cover off of the master cylinder. Then you replace the original cover with the 42557-95 and you are good to go. There is a nice, fitted hose that you can get as well, P/N 42365-02. Otherwise, you can use a regular piece of hose with two small hose clamps.

Remember also to use Dot 5 on the brakes in your 2004 HD.

Happy Trails! 🙂
