I have a 79 Goldwing with a Friendship I which I am rebuilding from the ground up. Just cleaned up the frame and I will start putting it back together after the New Year. I have pretty much given up looking for different triple trees for it, I was hoping to reduce the trail some. Leading Links is way out of my price range.

So I guess I'll go with wider handle bars, jeeze if I can find some! Anyone have any experience with this? Brake and throttle lines aren't much of a problem, I worried about the electrics.

I would also like to replace some of the lighting with LEDs - anyone have references to some good sights. One last thing - I was thinking about putting one of the HEI head lights in the Vetter. Anyone know how much heat they genereate?

If you fired off a note to Steeright you won't be sorry, they do excellent work and are great to deal with, no surprises at any time and they get the job done and mailed asap, they did mine and I would go to them again.

We ran a 78 wing for a long time with varius sidecars on it and stock steering. Wider bars from almost any jap bike (7/8") will work. I used motocross bars for a while and then some flat track bars. Wider is good for leverage and if they are too wide for cables etc they can be cut down slightly. We never had cable problems nor electic issues.
You can also run th efork tubes up through the trees slightly to rteduce trail some. Be careful to allow clearnace for suspension movement so you do not have a radiator problem (Don't ask...lol).
Raising the rear of th ebike reduces trail a little also.
We ran an avon sidecar tire on the front but a lower profile one woul also ease steering if you want to play with that.
Did ours steer hard? Not bad i thoiught although some are much more sensitive to steering effort than others.
I woudl certainly reccomend getting some seat time in before going to other extremes. If you are a new sidecarist give yourself soem time to get used to it and you just may be happywith what you have..we were.

Part of the reason I was (am) looking to ease up the steering some is that my Bride of 32 years is interested in running the hack setup. She has her license but its been (oh how old it that kid) 29 years since she has ridden. We blasted our way on Sportsters all over So. Cal. Oh so many years ago... Oh sometimes it takes yearning for the past to realize the present is much better!
