Lineing up GL1500 altenator? Do i need new cuss words

Hay Varn good to hear from you, just been for a pick me up ride aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh thats better. The thing i do not like about breakdowns is that it shakes your trust a bit in what you are riding, more so when its new to you. Yeah Tuesday is the plan and just take my time. No triple tree is not the end of the world right. Right time to pitch a new tent and see what it looks like, and if i like it. But first Coffee, see you soon all being well

@none There's a box on the bottom right of the browser page that says Messages. If you have a PM, a number will show up there.
Oh, and you should have a number showing up there right now.

Posted by: @varn-cummingsSo I had been told that the early 1500s were notorious for alternators giving up pre-maturely. ( between 35k to about 70k.) mine was at about 50+k. Also, my 2004 1800 alternator let go about a year ago near Cleveland Tenn.
I do swear that Varn has been nipping on that Southern Moonshine again.
My '94 Goldwing 1500 was ridden 90,000 miles in ONE year, and I had NO alternator problems at all, other than low output when riding at 25 mph following a Idaho snowplow, that led me to a motel in Oregon.
My 2003 Goldwing 1800, ridden 109,000 miles in ONE year, and NO alternator problems at all.
My 2004 Goldwing 1800 ridden 80,000 miles in 6 months, and NO alternator problems at all.
We can therefore conclude......whatsamatta yous guys ?
In full disclosure, when I service my bikes, I use my shop air nozzle to blow out any dust or residue from inside the alternator, and anywhere else on the engine.
But it still begs the question.....whatsamatta yous guys ?

you know, Miles, most people setting up the electrical connections on their rigs have not planned out the fastidious design as you do. That opens many cans of problems. OTOH, 90K miles in a year, when does the bike ever shut off to give the alternator an opportunity to get stroppy?
