When you install a Dunlop front tire onto the front wheel of a Goldwing 1800 for use as a sidecar rig, the end result is you will get HALF the mileage out of that Dunlop tire as you can get from the proper/correct tire that should be used in this application.

Here is an example of the wrong front tire for sidecar rig use:

And, as we all know, opinions vary, so what one person things would work well for them, 99 other people might make a different choice.

Oddly, the other 99 people in this situation would choose the tire that has been proven to work SO well in this application, which is a Bridgestone BT-46 motorcycle REAR tire, installed onto the front wheel...backwards....and inflated to 40 psi.

Yes, those to pics above are of Thane's front wheel, thought I would post pictures he would like, whilst he is still in the medical center.

The POINT is, that it has been proven, over miles, and by sidecars and trikes, that the BEST tire to use on the front wheel of a three wheeled contraption is a BT-46 motorcycle REAR tire, mounted onto the front wheel of the bike, and installed backwards, and in doing so, you will get TWICE the mileage out of this tire as a typical motorcycle front tire, installed directionally as a front tire.

I cannot school everyone, as some people refuse to learn, even if the other 99 % are doing it one way, there will always be that 1% that swims against the flow .

Bottom line, each person is free (in this country....so far) to make decisions for themselves, and if it works for them, then great.

Heck, I even have that same Bridgestone BT-46 mounted onto the sidecar wheel of my BattleWing Galactica, because...the sidecar wheel WAS the original front wheel from my motorcycle, but was moved over to the sidecar when Hannigan installed the 180 front end on my bike.

I hadn’t see the build yet on the adv site.  I will go take a look now that you’ve mentioned it.  Thanks for the heads up!

Sometimes it is worth trying a less than optimal product, so that when "the best" is utilized, it can be truly appreciated.

After trying Food Club hot chocolate mix, I now really appreciate Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate in the morning mocha.  🤩

Scott, it's becoming quite clear why you live in the boonies of Northeast Utah. Living where there are very few other people, might be a good thing for you.

I don’t recall who said it, but there is a thought i use with students.  It goes something like this: poor decisions are a hard mistress, but some fools will learn from no other.

I had to learn about tire inflation issues by replacing two of the tires on the Royal Star rig VERY prematurely.  And now I know better.

Why yes...  Yes it is.  😊

🤣

Learning from others is a great option.  Though it can put a person in a position of not trying something new.  The word "stigma" comes to mind.

I want to go check out the Cheddar Gorge in England.  Makes me hungry for a grilled cheese sandwich.  Eat

OMG!  How did I miss that?  Did the tour of Lambo Field (amazing), but had no idea about the Cheese Head Museum.

You can lead a horse to water. But you can’t make him drink. But you knew this

@miles-ladue First I don't know anything about the tire that you recommend mounting backwards, however I can attest to the fact that you will only get half the mileage out of the Donlop mounted front wise.  Been there and done that about 3 times on my ST1300.

Jerry, very good, and it's great to learn lessons from things like that.
