How to make Steering easier

I have a Honda 450A with a Tomco sidecar. It has the original handlebars set up on the sidecar with a rod going over to the bike and attached to where the handlebars used to be to turn the wheel and steer.
It is difficult for me to steer and it takes too much effort. Does anyone know of a way to make it easier to steer? A way to decrease the effort necessary?

Thanks

Modified triple trees will reduce the steering effort. Check with Side Effects Sidecars for availbility of trees or mods for your trees.

Maybe something could be done by modifying the linkage itself to ease the steering effort some.

A picture of the set up would be helpful

I think I am going to get the Triple trees raked. I called the company you suggested and it is supposed to reduce effort 60-70%. Sounds like a good fix.

I second Side Effects, they supplied a modified triple tree, that not only gives 4.5 degrees of caster, but 1 degree of camber, for my GL1500 rig. It does a great job, I really like it. Good luck with yours.

You won't go wrong with working with SideEffects. Say hello for me to Broc.

I third it. Makes a world of difference! And...Peter and Brock are really great to deal with, extremely helpful.
Have fun!

you can also change the linkage to make it a bit easier however of course this means the bars will have to move further.
BTW, if you know any one else who would like a similar sidecar we have a very crude tomco sidecar here that came off of a CB750A. It is free to any one who has a real need for it. We also have a CB750A here in need of work that belongs to my brother in law $350. I would prefer not to sell it until such time as the sidecar is picked up in case who ever gets the sidecar for free wants it.
