Can anyone tell me the manufacture and maybe even model number of this sidecar.

Thanks.

Looks like a California Companion but the spoked wheel is more like the Spirit cars. The Companion had an 8 spoke aluminum wheel. The Spirit Eagle/Spirit of America cars shared the same body style. They were discontinued in 1984.
The Companion evolved into the current Companion GT.

I would say a Spirit Eagle. Could also be an E Z Rider or a Pied piper. These sidecars in various forms were manufactured by quite a few different companies and are still popular on the used market today.
See attached sales brochure.

I just picked one up like that as a basket case with that same spoke wheel
and a different sub frame, it is made out of 2" tube and has a roll that comes up and over behind the seat like a roll-bar from side to side, going to put it on the side of a 1997 Kawasaki ZL600 Eliminator Sport-Cruiser.
I am also a newbe at this.

Thanks all. After reading your replies, I compared this one to several pics I found and it does appear to most likely be a Spirit Eagle. Thanks for the instruction sheets also. They will likely come in very handy!

There is also a copy of the instructions located in our Reference section:

Good Luck on the project

Would anyone have a guess on what this sidecar (not bike) would be worth by itself? Paint not perfect, but not body cracks and good frame and new tire.

Todays price I don't know but back in '73 I payed $300 for our Spirit Eagle new in the box in White with a Chrome Frame.
Your's looks much like the Spirit Eagle but has a painted frame. I would suspect that they would sell for more than $300 used in good shape overall at todays rates.
Watch eBay over time an see how much they go for to get a better idea.

FWIW, those that said this looked like a Spirit of America Eagle
were correct.

Today in our restoration project we ripped out the old carpet from the
sidecar and found this tag inside.

I know your question has been answered...... this is more related to the previous reply suggesting $300 as a today's price. I'll take 6 of those @ 300.00....i would think that they would cost more like $750.00 in the average world out there.....and at that price they would be scarfed-up...i think.....Mike's one of the best horse traders in here....what say you MIKE..?

I think he said he bought one in '73 for $300.

Not sure which Mike you mean, Leo. If it's me, I guess I would agree to $750 to $900 if it's complete and in good shape. I bought one on Long Island in Sept of 2001. I paid $300 for it and sold it without seeing it for $400. My buyer picked it up from the seller. (That's the way to sell things). She had contacted me saying she was having trouble selling it locally. I found someone in Maine who was looking for one to mount on a Honda CM400. It was a good match for that.
Keep in mind that in those days you would be hard pressed to get more than $300 or $400 for a Velorex either. Today, used Vels go for about $700 to 750 around here. $500 Urals are $2500 now. The only ones around here that haven't changed much are Harley cars. They were around $3000 used back then and still sell in that neighborhood here.
I keep emphasizing here, because sidecars are much more popular in other parts of the country and prices vary widely. YMMV

Leo perhaps you should re-read what I stated re $300.
$300 is what I paid for one new in the crate back in '73 and I stated that it would likely sell for more than that today. I did not give $300 as todays price and sugested that watching what they bring on eBay would give him a good feel for todays price!!!

I have seen a few old Eagle's that are well worth $1000 or more today and others that aren't worth more than scrap price for the steel frame. The Real Value is what others have been paying for equal units in todays market and places like eBay will tend to give you a good feel for the high end of the market.

I never buy them to sell. I had your Dnepr on my Valkyrie a couple of years until somebody called me with a cheap Ural. The last one was a Formula 2 that was supposed to be for my daughter, then she decided she couldn't afford a motorcycle in her life right now. I even had a Guzzi 850T for her. I'm trying to remember the last time I saw you. You had the XS850/Dnepr, a Dnepr/Dnepr, that beautiful GL1000 with a Spyder?, and I think I'm missing at least one or two others.
How many do you have now?

Seriously, I love sidecars and I hate seeing one laying on it's side in a barn. I always try to match up orphan cars with new owners, whether I get anything out of it or not.
