I need a source for a 2000 Road King EFI complete new wiring harness. Yes, ours pretty much smoked away two weeks ago and Harley says this part is "obsolete."
I reallya don't want to put in a used harness if I can keep from it. (I would at least consider it) Anybody know where I might order one from a company that acually
knows what I might need? Thanks for your time. Jim in Memphis

I think your going to have to settle for a used one. Don't know of anyone making re-pop's for them. If I remember correct the systems were the same '99-'01. 2002 went to a different injection sys. There are a bunch on Ebay from people parting bikes out, but do your home work.

Willy, you really know how to hurt a guy. I'm probably going to have to have the harness rebuilt or settle for a used harness. Thanks for your response.

The son of a friend installs on custom HD's aftermarket water proof PLC's and wires as needed.
Myself I had to redo the wiring of my first bike and my 1960 Willies. It takes it time and patience. Check charging and generation!
My job is automation and for old machines I write down the function list.
Ripp out all the old stuff and make a new tree and PLC program. and forget about all the original conventional wiring.
Just a thought

Who all did you ask about one? Do you know what the OEM part number is?

Yep, I do have the OEM number: 70245-00 I originally talked to all the Harley dealers in the Memphis area. I then contacted a Harley parts guy in Connecticut and he searched Harley's main database and came up with zilch. I'm wide open for other ideas.

I did a search and sorry to say did not come up with anything. Did you have a dealer do a search of all the other dealers just to see if a dealer just happen to have one in stock?

One time I was looking for a obsolete part and they found one at another dealer that just happen to have one in stock.

I will keep looking and if I come up with something I will let you know.
Good Luck!

This dealership claims to have one in stock. You better check it out ASAP to see.

Jeff, I got on the horn with them immediately and they told me the same thing as the other dealers: There is none in the world. They said that their online department lists everything as "in stock." Thanks for your trouble, brother.

As last resort try to buy a used one and if need be make your own and use the connectors off your harnesses. I will keep my eyes open. Sorry that did not work out and why the hell do they have everything on their web site marked as in stock. That is the HD dealers for you.

Good teamwork fellows. Here's wishing you some good luck in finding a replacement.

Let me say this about the help in Gladstone, Oregon: Latus harley Davidson is the name of the dealership and the two guys who helped me absolutely could not have been more accomodating. So help me, I believe if they could they both would have driven to Memphis and repaired the harness themselves. Both of them told me the sad news and then BOTH got off the phone, looked further into the matter and then called me back later in the day to deliver the bad news again. One is named Carl and, I'm sorry to say, I don't remember the name of the other. Anyway, kudos to both of you. And, Jeff, thanks again to you.

Latus H-D is my all time favorite dealer. George Latus used to own the dealership in Spokane. He's always had an incredible crew that goes the extra mile. Or more...
