Does anyone here own an HD sidecar with the 88490-88A step ?

I am having difficulty finding one for sale, and am toying with the idea of making one.

If anyone does own one, please post the width and thickness of the steel bar that forms the arm. I’d take a semi accurate measurement of the  arms length, too. 😁

My view:  1/2" thick bar......1.5" to 2" wide bar.....12" to 14" long bar. Holes drilled in bar are 1/2" holes.

Well, you may have seen it already, but a youtube channel named Whiskey Mechanic has a video about one. He says it's a reproduction, but he holds it right up to the camera before installing it. Gives a good look at it, including the taper in the bar. So, it may help if you can't get actual measurements before building one.

@miles-ladue

Very similar to my guesses. Except I’m betting the u-bolt holes are a little smaller, maybe 3/8. Anyhow that u-bolt is available, so the holes will “come out in the wash.” And it may dictate the bar width…

Thanks!

Spot on. He gives a good look at it. But as noted, this was not OEM.
