Harley sidecar for 2009 Electriglide
I have a 2000 Ural Patrol w/sidecar and am now looking for a sidecar that will fit on my 2009 Electriglide Classic. How old of Harley sidecar will hook up to the 2009 frame and what has to be done? Comments on Harley vs other sidecars?
Also, seems like Texas sidecar is reasonably priced with four week delivery. How do the cars handle and any comments on no brakes? I have anti lock and I think it will be ok.
Looking for direction, thanks
The 2009 was a frame change year. 2010 was the last production year. Most any Banana bodied TLE or Ultra will attach but you'll probably need to check a Harley sidecar manual for which mounting kit is needed. Most of the HD dealers know s**t regarding sidecars. There were many mechanical and electrical changes made to the bikes in the last 40 plus years and lots of parts don't interchange readily. With an off year Harley car expect to pay up to $1,600. or more for the needed mounting parts.
Four week delivery seems a bit optomistic right now but with the lighter Texas sidecar I wouldn't get a brake. Even with the lighter hack youwill have heavy steering without modiified trees.

I just mounted a Champion Escort on the new frame of HD 2009 Roadglide same as Ultra,
I Looked into putting on the HD sidecar and was quoted over 1500.00 just for the bike mounts
another 500.oo for electrical hookup, and the hack I found was 2000.00 and it was not my color so I would have to
have painted. Was way too expensive to do the HD route, There aare a lot of cars on ebay and craigs list, Just keep looking, I was lucky I found mine only 100 mileas awayand the mounting brackets were available from Champion and were $1000.00 so I have under $4000.00 in the unit, That was paying to have installed and lined up and my gas and meals deliverly it to shop and paying the shop to deliver to me as I could not get a trailer and he did not want me rideing 100 mile on my first drive. Just keep looking also keep away from light weight units and units with universial mounting kits. Hope this helps with my 2 cents

I have a Texas Ranger car mounted on a 2010 ultra classic. I found the car on Craigslist for $2200.00' the mounts that came with it were for the old frame. I was able to purchase the additional mounts from Debbie at Texas Sidecar for less than 750.00. She was very helpful during the installation as was the information I could dig up from this forum. I have it mounted and adjusted so it works fine, I just need to get new trees to made it steer a little easier. It works fine without a brake and I have ABS on the bike. It was actually real simple to mount, adjustment takes some patience and time.
Thanks for the feedback, it all has been very helpful. I am looking at a 2006 Texas sidecar for same price $2200. He is checking into what mounts he has and if I need to purchase others. Once I run it for a little while, I'm sure I will be changing triple tree.
Did yours come with the chrome wheel? If so, did you change it out to match the bike?
Lonnie, what side car do you have on your bike?
It is a Liberty Classic. A world class sidecar. The best handling hack I've ever had on a Harley. The bride (of 51 years) has been on long tours in it and really likes the comfort factor.

Mine came with the chrome wheel, if you send me you're email, I'll send you some pictures.
I'm a Texas dealer. Quite familiar with their cars. Used to be called "Ride By Side" sidecars. I haven't sold one for awhile but I've mounted a few in the past.

Pictures would be great. Can you take some of the mounts? I am calling the guy to make the deal this morning. 500 miles up and 500 back. Picked a Ranger up for $2100. Will have to have it painted, due to a name and pinstripes on it. Also, I think I will put a tail light on the fender. Can you take a picture of your sidecar seat? The pictures of the 2006 I am getting looks wrinkled on the sides and I am thinking it is just the way its made. Anyway, thanks for the help.

Lonnie, the individual I am getting the Tx sidecar from says he has the mounting brackets for FL touring. I thought he said I may need to purchase one clamp, depnding on my downtoob size (1 3/8"). Thinking about it, if the car is 2006 and my bike is 2009, won't I have to purchase a complete mounting kit for new frame?
The only sidecars that require the Harley mounting kits are the TLE and Ultra Harley cars since the have a unique three point mount system and electrical/electronic interfacing to deal with.
The 2009 and later Harleys have some larger frame tubes than the earlier models.
I have the needed larger size clamp in stock.

I just got done installing an 08 Harley sidecar TLE on my 09 ultra with abs brakes
it takes a kit that cost $1381.00 to fit, the 08 and below sidecars won't fit with out the kit.
The time I got it painted and put a reverse on it I have about $7500 in it, but it now has ABS on all
Three wheels, e mail me and I'll send you a pic, dp2299@ gmail. Com
You can also call Juston @ Fort Thunder HD in Moore Oklahoma, he is in parts,
He can kelp with fitment.
