If I move only the bar that slides under the car that attaches to the bike near the steering head, will this change bike lean and not change toe?

It will change the toe-in.

You sure about that, Lonnie?? If you don't adjust either of the lower mounts, toe-in movement is almost nil. The S-shaped tube that slides in mounts under the sidecar chassis and mounts just below the steering neck on the bike sets the lean-out. At least, that's how it looks on my ElectraGlide/TLE setup.

Any change in the attitude of bike/hack combo will cause some change in the alignment of the car. Maybe minor, maybe not.
It's always wise to check the toe-in after any adjustments of the mountings are made to insure proper alignment and minimal tire wear.

I check my toe-in on my HD rig with two 10' pieces of 1-14" square tubing set up with feet so they contact the tires at about 4" about the floor. Changing lean a degree or two results in negligible toe-in change. That is because the toe-in is very tightly controlled by the two lower mounts.

I can imagine that an extreme change in lean might affect the toe-in but I see no need to make such a change.

if your front and rear lower mounts are exactly the same height off the floor, the toe in wont change when adjusting the lean in/out.

Good point. That explains it. The ones on the Harleys are almost at the exact same level.

Distance of them from the centerline of the bike makes a difference also.
