While selling my last Road King rig the new owner wanted to know if I had switched the factory solo vehicle setting to the sidecar setting. I was not aware of such a requirement and had operated rig for several years with no issues.

Anyone else familiar with this H D requirement? Guessing this is a take it to the dealer job - along with several $$$ ! Bike was a 2009.

You have two things. One fine a dealer that will work on something ten years an older, the other is if they will work on a sidecar bike. It might be his best bet go on the Techno Research site and check to see if there is a local Indy with their scanner willing to check it out.

Think I can help you with this. Main reason is I have messed with it a lot.

HD no longer offers the kit to move BAS. Not a big deal. The sidecar/trike setting is a simple on off . Many dealers will not do it.

Who did the install ?

When was install Done ?

For 2009 HD with a sidecar or trike kit. Sidecar HD had a bracket that moved the BAS to battery box area. They also had a harness that extend the wiring so the BAS plug would reach. Nothing else was needed.  On the trike kits it moved BAS to wishbone area .

Some just disabled BAS and ran a wire from ECM to turn off the red security light.

I have one of the Battery box brackets somewhere around here.

Latter HD did away with the V ball BAS and went to a disk installed in the BCM.

This is the relocation bracket and the proper BAS V switch type.

Thanks for the replies/info. Bike has been gone now for about a year. Just wondering what could happen if no mod/actions were taken. Seems to me that if the bike is now permanently fixed into an upright position the BAS has no function. Is it being deleted just because it is no longer needed - and removing a potential future failure point?
