I've had two dyna III ignition moduels die on me. I was wondering if anybody else has any exerperence with them? I've got it on a BMW R75.
I had one that died on my R75/5 but it was more of a mechanical failure. It happend on the way back to Pa. from D.C.. GLAD I HAD THE OLD POINTS SETUP STASHED UNDER THE SEAT. A little roadside repair and we were on the road again. By the way..I decided to just leave the points in after that.
I do carry extra points along amongst other 'stuff'.
Got a R80/7 sitting in the shop waiting for a 562 Cruiser install. It's been upgraded with a RT fairing (and downgraded with a Corbin seat). Yes, it does have points.

I've got a Dyna III ignition on my '78 R100/7. So far over the past five or six years I've had it installed it's been fine. It might be the condition of the engine, but it's the best running of my pre-electronic ignition boxers. It's smoother and idles far better than my '78 R100S or '77 R75/7, both still equiped with the original points ignitions.
I've heard numerous stories of the Dyna III ignition going belly up, but then again I've also heard of plenty of headaches caused by points, and have had several nagging points problems of my own. I'm keeping the Dyna III in my R100/7, though if I were to take a long trip I'd probably bring along the original points and mounting plate as a back up.

We may have painted the wrong picture with the previous posts. There are more than likely many more running the Dyna Ignition that have had no problems that those who have had problems. After having a problem on gets a little gun shy. Either way I would still carry the points etc., 'just in case'.

The 562 (and 700) Cruiser models have an upgraded suspension system. They will support a much heavier bike with the new longer swing-arm, adjustable shock and 20mm axle. The suspension is quite firm on the softest setting. They also feature a wider 16" wheel than the Standard 562s. I don't think the older 700S models are still available from Velorex. There is no longer a price listing for them.
The suspension is not as stiff as units with my Heavy Duty 1" axle conversion, but these cars retain the chrome spoked 16" wheel which is quite popular with many owners. The 25% increase in axle size doesn't hurt either.
We have our first 565 Tour model in stock now (finally). The fit and finish on these are first class. I'll try to get it mocked up on the Harley that it's going on and get a few pix out soon.
