Champion Escort Mounts, help needed
I have turned a wrench or two in my years, so I am not afraid to tackle this project, but for the love of God. I downloaded the instructions from the Champion site, they don't even have my year Harley listed general instructions, take a look yourself. If there is anyone out there that can give me a heads up as to the parts recieved today, it will help. Heading to the farm this weekend to start, and once the two are side by side maybe I can tell a little better, until then I will be the wild eyed indian(feather not dot) looking lost.................lol.........normal around here..........
thanks

So......What bike do you have? New or used Escort? Ordered for your particular model bike, or?
Steering damper come with mounts?
You know what parts you received (today) but we don't without a photo or two.
Can't try to help otherwise.

The steering damper looks like a long shock absorber with heim joints on either end.

Lonnie I do know what a damper looks like, and I did post pictures of all I recieved yesterday.
(1) Used Escort sidecar(bought in Louisiana, thanks for the headup from a forum member.)
(2) Harley Davidson 2008 Ultra Classic(my bike)
(3) talked to Larry at Champion and these are what they sent me.(bike side mounts)
(4) to see what I recieved(added an album of the parts I recieved yesterday(3/5/08)
album is called "champion sidecar mounts"
Got it!
This does look somewhat like a Rube Goldberg contraption. Upper front, lower front look normal. The lower frame mount must attach to the combo rear upper and lower.
As for the other two ?????????????? I there are damper mounts included these must be them. How they mount Only Champion or Escort owners must know.

I am about the least likely person to help you, except for the fact that I have an Escort mounted on a 1300 VTX, that actually is working well, if you would like, I can shoot some pictures of my setup from various angles, which may help your quest to align the proper parts in the proper places.
I'm not a wrench turner, but I can do photography, let me know if I can help out that way.

For Turtleman's question regarding the Escort mounting, here's some pictures of my setup, if there is any other views or more detail, I can do others...

After several days the mounts on the bike are on, the hack is at the painter, the fame is being cleaning and touched up professionally with a rattle top can, lol. All is well with the world, well almost, then there is Congress, but that is for another forum. Can’t do much without the body, but will mate the frame up with the bike today and shoot a few shots…………thanks to all for the pictures, the information(both good and bad), and for a place to vent..lol. Champion mounts are great and strong as hell, made by ex-skunk works government employees, strong enough to land the shuttle on, and will teach you a whole new language. Well once again off to the farm and would you believe it Congress passed the health care plan and it’s snowing again here in Georgia, hmmmmmmmmmmm, what was that about when what freezes over, LOL.
