I always said that if I ever felt the need to alter the front end on a bike, Iwould bite the bullet and buy a leading link. It seems most of the folks I've met with them started out with raked trees, then switched.

I guess I lied. Even though I have not yet mounted the sidecar to my Aspencade, I was offered a brand new Power Trak unit for about 1/2 of retail. I can't pass that up.

Anyone have any tips or tricks re mounting one of these on a GL1500 Goldwing? I probably won't mount this until after the sidecar is on, unless your experiences convince me otherwise.

Thanks,

Mike

Progressive springs in front fork help a lot too. For some reason oem springs felt good with oem tree, but work too bad(too soft) with Power Trak.

I'll keep that in mind, but would probably lose appendages if I told my wife I nneded to spend more money right now. If this thing wasn't really reasonably priced, it would have had to wait.

Maybe I'll leave this for last. By that time maybe I can sneak in another $100. 😉

So what is a a power trak?
I can google up instruction for installing one but not a description ot photo of what it is , not even from California sidecars.
If they actually wanted to sell these things would it not make sense to show a picture?

Vlad...while I was installing my Champion EZ-steer trees, I changed fork oil to a heavier 15w....now factory springs are OK.....No dive when braking.... and a better ride..... I also recently installed a Barons HD spring on rear shock....the factory spring had been "bottoming out" with 2-up riding.....the spring cost $75 compared to $495 for a new shock....the fork oil was $14.....

Hey Mike, how much did the EZ-Steer lower the front of your bike?

Hey..LEE ...
The T. tree kicks the fork out 6 degree more... same as POWER TRAC....reducing the trail....thereby making the rig steer easier....and it lowered front end less than 1inch??... this is just layman terms...we will get some technical posts explaining the why and wherefore of rake & trail.....which is interesting......lee the bushing is a impregnated bronze bushing and like you say, should have a small amount of slack...without tightening down too much on large nut on end of shaft....mine was real "sloppy"... Bob said tightening nut would not help??????
VLAD...Baron makes the HD spring for Yamaha cruisers...models with single shock under swingarm..(soft tail style) I don`t know if you can get a spring for other brands....Check with... PHAT PERFORMANCE PARTS....I buy from them, there prices are good, and right now they have 5% off and free shipping on orders $99 and up......

I picked up the Power Trak today. It really was still in the box, brand new, as she described for $500! I'm a very happy camper.

It will be a little while before I install it. I've decided to attach the sidecar to the bike first, so it may be a few weeks before I'm ready to give a ride report. Thanks to all for advice and counsel, and please don't stop.

Mike

Hey..LEE ...The triple tree ... lowered front end less than 1inch??...

I was just wondering, as it looks like I may have a stumbled upon an appropriate raked triple tree for the Sportster and was concerned as to reduced ground clearance.

Hi-Jack for a new somewhat related question:

Reckon I would need to simply go to heavier fork oil, maybe try to increase the spring pre-load with spacers, or upgrade to stiffer springs? Any thoughts?

2- 1" pvc spacers on the fork springs bring it back up to stock. One on each spring.
