I started building a sidecar for my Suzuki Volusia. I wanted one that could carry my two kids or my wife and one kid. Couldn't find anything used that was the right size, and new is too expensive for me so I decided to build my own. Seems to be going good so far, lots of things to preplan and sort out as I go. I'll keep you posted on the progress if anyone is interested. If I can figure out how to post pictures I will do that as well.

Thanks Jay. I'm considering putting a roll over bar and seat belts in the sidecar. My kids are 9 & 11 years old , any pros or cons to this idea?
Both on the surface sound like good ideas however who knows for sure. No accedent studies that I am aware of have been done with sidecars. We often put seat belts in sidecars but usualy for sidecars that are to have small kids in them. The reason being that a small kid seat belted down stays put. With out the seat belt you may be riding along, look over in the sidecar to find you passenger gone as the child decieded to crawl down into the nose of the sidecar and go to sleep where you can not see them.
Your bike is easy to mount a sidecar to. We use two 1 1/2 inch frame clamps for the lower mount on this bike. The lower rear goes on a section of frame that stick out for no apperant reason other then to give you a great place for a clamp. For the upper mounts we remove two 10mm bolts that hold the frame together, Drill them out to 12mm and then use eye bolts. This is most likley the least expensive and easyest bike to mount a sidecar on there is as it is one of the very few bikes that clamps will work well for lower mounts.

Thanks Jay. The upper mounting points you mentioned, is that the two bolts that hold the chrome fender support? I was thinking of using the lug in the upper front frame tube that is there for the crash bar,and one or two down from the rear mounting point, or do you think putting two down from the rear mount is good enough? Do you have any good pics of a hack mounted to a Volusia? Thanks ,Dave

Volusia/Velorex and Volusia/Dnepr.
We do it a little differently than Jays shop, We don't drill out the frame joints, but it all works.
