BMW GS tire ??

Really improves the stability and handling on my GSA rig and my buddies GS rig. Worth dealing with a tube.

The general consensus for a tubeless tire is the Metzeler ME880 Marathon or the Metzeler ME888 Marathon Ultra in size 110-90/19 is the better all-around touring tire for GS rigs ridden on pavement and hard packed unpaved roads. This ME880/888 is a little taller than the stock 110/80-19 so there is less clearance under the sub-fender - it's so close the tire might rub should the sub-fender or wheel be slightly bent or out-of-align. We currently have a Michelin Anakee 3 size 110/80-19 mounted - it performs well and will likely last ~4,000 miles. I suspect most all of the reputable road-biased adv-type tires will give similar performance. No personal experience, but I suspect the ME880/888 should wear for ~6,000 miles.

Another option is contact David Hinze re: his "Stroker Wheel" conversion for 135R15 or 145R15 automobile tire to the front.

sspect, I've considered the K-28 for my next fitment. How does the size/diameter of the K-28 4.00-19 compare to the stock 110/80-19? Have y'all run 'em long enough to determine mileage wear?

Slightly larger....taller and wider
5K on mine and it shows no wear....same on the other bike.
On my friends 2007 GS the tire fit fine with the front fender....on my 2012 GSA I had to bend it up a little for the same clearance using a heat gun....tried a different/new OEM fender and it was fine on mine...depends on your bike.

The Heidenau has a profile almost as flat as a car tire and extremely stiff sidewalls which I believe contribute to the improved handling and stability....Also it should be noted that both rigs have Hyper Pro Steering Stabilizers installed...

You don't say what year GS, but based on the 110 tire size I'm assuming it's a 2005-13 pre-waterboxer.

If you want to go a little different route, try a 130/80-17 mounted on a front wheel from a R1200RT or something similar. Although it's a 17, not a 19, it's an inch wider so you can mount a wider tire. The 130/80-17 is about the same overall diameter as the 110/80-19, so your ride height won't change. Make sure you get a front rim from a bike that takes the same rotor and ABS ring as your bike. Use the Max BMW fiche to do your research.

By the way, a 140/80-17 will actually fit on that RT rim, but will NOT fit under the fender and, ifyou delete the fender a 140 still might rub the forks. Stick to the 130 and you'll be very happy!
