Adjustable or Variable Steering Damper
Does anyone know of an adjustable steering damper for sidecar rigs? I have a Hannigan Super Sport on a BMW R1100R, with a big-moose steering damper fastened between the front-right fork-leg and the sidecar frame; it's WAY too stiff at low speeds. It seems like someone could come up with a steering damper equipped with a remote adjustment knob on the handlebars that would allow the driver to select the degree of damping, depending on conditions.

I woulkd say that a VW damper may be your solution if cost is a concern. If setup properly there shoudl not be that much effort to move it yet it will do the job. We are playing around with an two adjustable damper designs one based on the VW and the other with a friction damper system. Both work though a bell crank with the actual damper placed down alongside the sidecar frame. Do you really need a damper on that setup?

Did your R1100R come with a factory damper? I recall my R850R did.
And if it did, is the smaller stock damper up to the task of sidecar duty?
