Good Afternoon All,

Pretty new sidecar owner (2006 Harley Classic with a 2006 Harley TLE car). My tires are ok at best currently, running Harley Dunlop 402's. My buddy with basically the same rig ('05 Classic '05 sidecar) who's got me concerned about low mileage tire wear on the rear and on the car just switched to Firestones from Coker all around. He's using 500/525-16's bias 4 ply with a max load capacity of 1070@32 PSI. His logic in switching to these makes sense to me with the tires all running flat as opposed to a leaning two wheeler. They're also cheaper. I'm really looking at longevity as I get closer to changing the tires goes. Any advice, thoughts, etc. Thanks in advance for any help/advice/ramblings/stern warnings/etc.

If diameter is different it will affect your speed and odometer somewhat. Speed rating may be different.

The drive belt may rub the car type rear tire. Some folks order a narrower belt and massage their fenders a little. Getting the beads to set can also be a problem and finding someone to mount the tires can be difficult. One secret to getting the most mileage out of the motorcycle tires is to keep the rear tire pressure at 40 psi. I check my air pressure often. Low air pressure will eat the tire up quickly. The other trick is to run a rear tire on the sidecar due to the increased tread depth which results in increased tire mileage.
