@miles-ladue I love the DCT in my Africa Twin; it really is amazing. And you are correct: a DCT Goldwing with a sidecar would be my absolute dream come true...but I told myself I would stick to a certain budget, under 20k.

Well, the bike/sidecar/trailer package you are looking to buy, for the price it is listed for, is a very good deal. I know, because I have spent a LOT more than that for similar rigs. So, you got a lot of bike/sidecar/trailer for a good price.

And now that you have revealed the ugly truth about that being a (gulp) Corbin seat on your AT...sadly it means we can no longer be friends. Tears

If you gotta ask....Oh, The Humanity of it all.

Riding on a Corbin seat, is like watching the Hindenberg fall from the sky.

People buy a Corbin seat, to trailer their H-D to a bike show that was only 10 miles from their house, but the Corbin seat makes their H-D chopper LOOK pretty.

BMW guys buy a Corbin seat to have their BMW's look pretty sitting in front of a Starbucks coffee house.

Serious riders.....sit on a RDL seat, for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 4.25 weeks of a month, 12 months of a year, and for 50+ years, without their butts getting tired, or monkey butt.

And if you have to ask..."what is an RDL seat" ?...then the world, as we know it, has come to an end. Head Explody

@miles-ladue Yeah, I do feel like the asking price of this setup is well worth it, given the year and miles on the GW.

Since the service history is unknown (besides the current owner replacing the oil), would you advise on doing a seafoam clean for the engine? I see the Goldwing Docs YouTube channel talking about it to get out any gunk in the engine. I have done similar things on my cars, but I only use BG EPR for those flushes...and I only do those flushes one time, whenever I purchase the vehicle used.

@miles-ladue haha! I do know what an RDL seat is...many folks in the Africa Twin forums talk about them, just about everyone praises them. I will have to see how this seat feels in 2016, but I have a feeling it is going to be more than comfortable for my needs.

Reluctantly I shall endeavor to continue assisting you, despite that your butt sits on a (gulp) Corbin seat.

Yes, do a Seafoam cleanse of the fuel system. Not the engine oil system, just the fuel system. The 2015 Goldwing that I picked up this past Summer from Hannigan's, had only 32,000 miles on it, but only 800 miles during the previous 2.5 years, as it was their showroom model, and demo bike, for others looking to order a GTL sidecar. So, on my way home, 2,500 miles, I ran a couple cans of Seafoam, and bottles of Techron through the fuel system, and it runs like a brand new bike. Do one can, a full can, on your way home...BEFORE changing the spark plugs, and that will be good enough to cleanse the fuel system.

Change the engine oil and filter once you get home, then run that oil for approx 1,000 to 1,500 miles, and change it one more time (new filter too), so that you oil/filter changes coincide with your odometer, example:  New Oil and Filter at 30k miles on odometer, then new oil and filter again at 35k miles on odometer, then again at 40k miles on odometer, etc, etc, repeat. repeat.

I am the RDL seat guru....having had 17 of their seats made for me, in person each time. Also, much more than a million miles ON their seats. In fact, they made this seat for me, as a gift, once they figured out I had over a Mill on their seats. Even my newest Wing, and my latest CTX700, w/DCT, have RDL seats.

@cms062407 Miles has a build thread over on the "other" site (ryhmes with ADVhider) for the DCT/Hannigan rig.  Many pages of the pre production, planning, execution and final details that's worth a look.

Oh, another thing. I don't think I mentioned that the rear tire is dark sided...should I still stick to your recommendation of inflating the rear tire to 40? or was that 40 psi if it was a motorcycle tire?

You ordered the wrong spark plugs....those are the normal V-groove plugs from NGK, which means you will replace then again in 30k miles. I did say to order the NGL Iridium spark plugs...they will last a minimum of 75k miles, and can be used up to 100k miles....or longer.

And that Honda oil....I can only pray (and I am not a praying man) that the oil you ordered is NOT the one that includes the additive that makes the clutch slip.

Mother Honda originally was selling the wrong oil to all their customers when the new Goldwing 1800's came out in late 2000, and it took a mean olde man like myself to point out to Mother Honda that she was doing wrong to her customers.

Blow up that bottle, and let me see if you ordered the right stuff, or the wrong stuff. It CAN make a difference as to how long your clutch lasts. In my world, I have NEVER burned up or wasted a clutch in any of the 11 Goldwings that I have owned.

As for your question on final drive gear oil/lube....I only use the Honda brand 85w/90, in the smaller black plastic bottle. More than enough to do a full and complete job with one bottle. But I am extremely anal when it comes to maintenance, so I drain the final drive, flush it out with brake clean, blow it out with compressed air, then flush a little of the NEW gear lube through the fill and drain holes, then I will reinstall the drain plug, and fill the rear final drive unit with new gear lube. As I said, more than enough gear lube in one of the small black plastic bottles from Honda to do a full and complete service, so...do NOT skimp by trying to use ONE bottle to do two full final drive services. They only cost like $ 8.00 for a bottle of that gear oil/lube.

This is my 2015 Wing w/Hannigan GTL sidecar, that I am shipping to Germany next February. It will land there next April, and I will be there to meet it.
