hauling a rig
does anyone haul ther rigs. if so what kind of trailer do you use. pics please
Here are two trailers I made just for hauling sidecar rigs. Both use 102.5" wide 3500# axles.
One has torsional suspension with a 13" deck for easy loading. Drive on ramp/tailgate.
The one with the 2 Harley Baggers aboard has conventional leaf springs, 13" deck and a folding drive on ramp/tailgate.
What bike/sidecar do you have? I use regular 3 rail trailer to pull gs850/velorex. don't know how to post pucture but can send you email if i know your email.
Don't Know where you are but if you are in the snow country a 2 sled snowmobile trailer might work. That is what I am using. Harold in kansas

I bought this for the sidecar bike, but have never actually hauled it. 80 inches wide and 10 feet long. I'm hoping the new Goldwing Cal 3 combo will fit on it.
that looks like the trailer i need i have a 1500 wing with a calf sidecar

I like it because it's really low to the ground. I have a small electric winch for the front, but even an old guy can easily roll a disabled full sized bike onto it without breathing too hard.
If it's 80" wide between the fenders and 10' from head to tailgate a GL1500 or later rig will fit just fine.
Even with a low 13" deck I need a come along or extra hand to load the big baggers.

I have two enclosed trailers
1 is 7x16 with upright side supports (about 4" each side ) rig won't load have lest then a 1/4' to spare
no room for error
the other is a 8.5 x 20 (102 ) loads fine
I have a Featherlite trailer 6' 6" ft x10ft. My two Goldwings 1500 w/ Hannigan 2+2 fit easily on the trailer. The Harley Ultra with Hannigan 2+2 fit on it when I cun off the left fender to clear the bike.
Sidecar Mike how about a brand name for that trailer please?. That folding ramp looks to be great and the short sides are also. Thanks Max.
I'm presently using a long single axle utility trailer. Removable side and head boards and tall loading ramp. Sidecar rig fits between the inner fenders OK but cannot use the tall sideboards as the tug foot peg hangs over the side. When we came to AZ last Fall I had the Savage solo rig crossways on the front of the trailer and a Kawasaki MULE 550 behind it and had to use longer metal stays for the tailgate. Load distribution was OK and the trailer has always towed well even with the Colorado PU we had before this RAM 1500. It is high off the ground with previous owner installed bigger tires that I've seen on similar units and the tailgate when up vertical is big drag when towing MT. I have sometimes removed it and screwed it down on the wood deck. Like the wood decks for securing wheel chocks and cribbage to help secure the load even when using HD tie downs. But would like a lightweight Alum one also. I guess anyway you can have the rig with you works the best. Plans are to take it back to WA this spring so we can use it there also. Been too cold in Phoenix this last week to ride but the weather persons promise better weather this week.

That one is an Aluma 7710H with an optional folding tailgate. I didn't realize that I uploaded the wrong photo. That one belongs to a friend. 7' 6 inches between fenders and 10 feet long.

Mine is a Loadmaster from Marshfield, WI. It is also available with the folding tailgate, but doesn't have the same sides. Mine is like this; 80 inches wide and 10 feet long.

We had one of those too, but never actually hauled the bike. It was so heavy to move around the yard to mow, that I finally sold it to a friend who frequently borrowed it anyway. The aluminum one weighs about as much as a kid's coaster wagon, so I don't mind rolling it around. We can also pull it with my wife's Outback, which I could never do with the steel one.
SidecarMike. How can you use 80" trailer when my gl1500/frendship 3 is 87" whide?

I don't know if I can. My sidecar is not yet on the bike. My son came down for the Packer Game tonight and said he has ten days off to help me put it together.
We plan to put timing belts on in the morning, then start on the install.
Is that an overall width, or track width?
That would be some wide track if it is!
