Hey Whitey, hope you're enjoying the sidecar rig. Looks like you might have just missed the Soviet Steeds Labor Day Picnic last Monday up near the Lake Livingston Dam.

We don't have an East Texas gathering planned for this fall, but Elmer is hosting the Razorback Rally up in southwest Arkansas October 4-6: http://www.sidecar.com/mbbs22/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=11349&posts=2&start=1

Whitey, i'm in NW Houston.
Would like to meet one day and go for a ride but now I'm back at getting my rig in working order.
Just when I was getting comfortable riding her I made a right hand turn and was surprised by a new curb that was laid down and I hit it with the front wheel.
I think the wheel is bent but haven't had a chance to look closer.

We'll keep in touch once she's rideable again.

Look out for those curbs.
They will jump out at you.
As far as your bike is concerned, I happen to of just met a guy with about 5 cx500's laying around.

Possibly a good bit of parts also.
He is in Dallas though.

If you need a hand with the repair , I do enjoy working on bikes.
I don't know everything about them but I can off a hand

Thanks I appreciate it, got the wheel off and fixen to head to the bike shop to see if it's the tire or the rim or both that's bent.

That curb sure did get me by surprise not to mention it was night and no street lights.

Hey, I'm in the Houston area, just picked up a rig of my own and would definitely like to ride with some more experienced people to pick up some pointers.

Also, I see you're on a Triumph, I don't know if you're familiar with BMOA (just joining up myself), but a lot of the vintage Brit bike guys do a bike night up at Shepherd Park Draught House every Thursday night. Pretty good group of guys (and girls), and even a few hacks that show up occasionally.

Also keep in the mind the East Texas Sidecar Muster scheduled for May 2-4, 2014 at Holly Park Marina at mid-lake Toledo Bend near Milam. More details here: http://www.sidecar.com/mbbs22/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=11958&posts=1#M75819

That sounds fun.
I am healing from a small argument I had with my XR.
It wanted to stop and I didn't.

We parted ways and I separated my shoulder.

I should be back in the saddle by March.

Heading your way to the Ride for Kids in Humble this Sunday. If you haven't been to one of these and taken one of the kids for a ride in your sidecar, check it out http://pbtf.convio.net/site/TR?fr_id=1562&pg=entry There are usually at least 10-15 different rigs helping at this event and the kids you're helping will sure put a smile on your face. If you show up, look for me on a black Valkyrie with an open, black sidecar.

How about an update to this old thread? I know that WhiteyTrashed has returned to two wheels and that Sidecar Sal is working on acquiring all the components for a new and bigger/better rig-- but haven't chatted with a couple of others who posted, and suspect there are a few more in the Greater Houston area who might yet check in. Meanwhile (as posted elsewhere in this forum) I have acquired a CSC Friendship II and a Honda Shadow Spirit 1100-- and Jay at DMC is building my mounts. Good times ahead, someday...

Good to hear from you TxRider. Seems like the pieces to the puzzle are coming together.
How's the Honda Spirit 1100 looking? If there's something I can help with (or at least get in the way) let me know. : )

On my end things are also coming along. Bought my friend's bike to help him out of a tight spot but got it sold and now we're back on track again.
Hope to have the Honda Shadow 750/Velorex 562 put together some time before the year.

Howdy all, got my "new-to-me" Gold Wing with Champion sidecar up and running finally. Now to put some miles on him. First shake down ride was to attend the rally in Uncertain last weekend. That trip uncovered a few items to address, such as new rear shocks....

Am in NW Houston (Cypress), interested in meeting, kicking tires and riding with other sidecar drivers.
