Claude Stanley Trail reducer.. Has the Steel insert and a relatively new ball joint installed.. Know for sure it fits a 2008 R1200 GS but may fit others around this year and model. Asking 500 USD plus shipping.Β

Hi Brian,

You know that Trail Reducer will fit my R1200 "Romer The Red Fox" BMW rig. I can't believe we didn't discuss this at the MOA or John Day rallies.

Hope you are doing well and riding you butt off.Β  Is the sub-frame all welded up and mended? The all thread is still working fine on the sidecar sway bar.

Unfortunately I have only had the 1200 rig out twice since then. Just got off the Nor-Cal BDR on the KTM. Fantastic, however most of the sections I have ridden in past years.

Cheer

Dave

@dave-brakebill I think we did but you were on the fence about a Leading Link etc etc.. Frame is all fixed and reinforced plus the next breakage is also fixed. Yeah I broke it in a different spot on the next trip But we get side tracked. lol8 Β

The trail reducer was Β never this abused. Β

Brian--if you do a search for the BMW lower fork brace part number that Claude's trail reducer replaces, you discover that this trail reducer will fit (and work for!) all of the K25 and K255 bikes, which means all of the R1200GS and GSA's from 2005 to 2012. But not the water-cooled bikes.

On a personal note, Claude developed the "steel insert" trail reducer specifically as a response to the failure that I experienced with the DMC trail reducer in 2013. I, for one, think that this is a brilliant idea and I give it two thumbs up.Β  Interestingly, DMC of Texas no longer sells the DMC trail reducer.Β  DMC now sells the LBS-USA trail reducer.Β  I actually like Claude's better!

At $500, anybody who snaps this up is getting a great bargain for a reliable steering mod.

@ned Exactly why I bought the reducer from Claude. He was a trusting fellow. It was in the mail before I got the cheque in the Mail.. Also tried to talk me out of it. I was committed or should have been by that time so it didn't work..

Still available for any one who needs itΒ
