I have a family member in St. Johns Canada who is looking to add a sidecar to an old Yamaha XS1100. Anyone want to offer some advice on car choice. I'm still very new to all this but have noted that some people have been persuaded not to use particular cars based on the size of the tug. My only experience is with a Cosy on a Bonnevilles, but the XS1100 is a pretty big bike and I suspect that a Cosy may not be a good match. Plus there is the mounting to a 30 plus year old bike. He does like the retro look of the Cosy style. What's available out there?

Something full size and full strength like Ural, or Watsonian, if looking at used hacks.
Many of the current manufacturers make hacks that would be equal to the task.

the xs11 is a good tug for a sidecar. i have a 78 standard with a hitchhiker. it is a good combo.
you might want to check over at xs11.com for some other choices. if the 80 is a standard you can
use the forks and top tree off a special to reduce the trail. stock standard trail is 5.12" makes for hard steering.
also use the 16'' special rear wheel to replace the stock 17" to lower the gearing.

We put one of our Kenna sidecars on an XS1100 2-3 years ago. My customer found the bike as NOS at a dealer with only 12 miles on it when he brought it to us to install the sidecar.
