With 62 degree weather I just couldn't keep my latest hand built Sweet Classic Sidecar at home. I was the only one out on the Cherokee Trail but that didn't matter. I figure any warm day is a good day to go riding. Out of the box this rig almost drives itself.

Hi All:
It has been a long time since I have had anything to report. My K1100/Motorvation rig had a gas leak. It has been cold up here in the Black Hills and I didn't think it was a good idea to start a fire in the wood stove with a gas leak - so I had to work on those days when it was warm (above 30 degrees). I got all the hoses replaced and it wouldn't start. The battery sounded weak. I couldn't believe that a 4 year old battery was bad (I lied). I had to replace the battery. My rig is running again but I used up the warm day fixing it and it may be 2 weeks before it is nice again. The next time you hear from me it will be to report a ride.

Just found out my rig will be in the shop a little longer than anticipated. The new pistons arrived both in boxes marked .010 over but on further inspection one piston was .010 and one was .030. Oops. Correct markings on the boxes, wrong part in one. Slight set back.

With Sophie and my son Thomas I visited the Ural number 2 in Costa Rica.
It is a 2007 1wd Tourist that donated its drunken first owner 3,5kg Titanium into his skull and needs some work before it will be possible to teach the new owners.
The gasoline was totally useless, the right carb ripped off together with half of its manifold(screws completely seized). The gear lever broken, foot peg far backward bent, al tires flat/low and hard the left muffler like a banana bent that it nearly scrubs the ground...Cylinders with carbon, oil smelly. Shock absorbers stiff.
The overall condition does not look too bad.
Luck for the new owner is, I have the spares.
It will become interesting to teach 4 family members at a time Father 2 sons and the most interested is the mother...the smallest ones will have to grow up first.

There is always a first time for everything. Lets wait and see what future will bring.

What I did today was ride my rig from our shop in Enumclaw WA to SLC Utah to meet up with my brother in law, In the morning my wife and I will be going with a group riding and camping in Moab then onto death valley. Been a long time since I was in a part of the country with proper speed limits, even with the electric trim adjusted all the way up we still have a bit of a pull to the right when I get it over about and indicated 90 MPH which is the speed needed to stay with the flow of traffic in parts of southern Idaho and Utah. For this trip we took the off road tires off of the bike and went with automotive tires, we had them on all three positions but found that a 175 was just to wide on the front so now we have a 170 motorcycle rear tire on the front.
Attached is a photo of the bike we are on.

Hi Folks:
I thought I had my problem solves. Evidently screw type hose clamps don't work with Fuel Injected BMW's. I had to take it "all apart" again. This time it went quicker because of what I learned a couple of weeks ago.
At this report I have it nearly all back together - again.
I have a second sidecar project to report on. I bought a Spirit Eagle that needed some TLC. I bought it to resell. I am tinkering it up as we speak.

I've never been to Moab or other adjacent areas. Maybe in conjunction with the 2016 USCA National Rally. We've had several days above freezing here, so interest in riding is building.

Yesterday I rode my just finished (if a rig is ever finished) R1150RT Champion Escort rig home from Bill Drapers home shop. Wet roads and some rain for the maiden voyage. Today Liz is going for her first ride in it. Sure hope she likes it, she hated the Friendship 1 we had a few years ago. The Escort with the flip front and more room seems to slove most of the things that she did not like on the Friendship 1.

Rode mine today into Ball Ground and back, ran into 12 bikers going the other way, in the middle of the crowd was a smaller bike with a sidecar. Only the 3rd one I have seen in our area in the last 2 years. See a few trikes now and then but one of the 10 best trike dealerships in 20 miles up the road in Jasper GA.

Hi John:
I think I have had pie at that place. We have a friend near Hico who invited us for "Calf Slobber Meringue Pie" at a place just east of hiway 281. The pie was good as was the conversation. My wife and I were riding our rig from border to border on 281 and stopped to visit old friends.
Say!! That is a mighty fine looking rig. Is that a Ural or a DMC. I only have two guesses today.
