Hey All,

I am trying to convince my wife that we should spring to have the sidecar of our rig color matched to the Reflex. I think I bought this rig for a good price, but she does not want me to spend any more money on it.

They are both 2002 models in good shape and the Reflex has 6000 miles on it.
What do you guys think the resale value of something like this would be and would color matching increase its value?

It might retail at about 5K in some markets. Maybe a couple hundred more color matched.
It has a limited market though since it is not freeway capable.

Thanks for the reply Lonnie

Yea, it is a bit of a weird duck, but here in flat Florida its actually proving to be a very practical rig for runs into town at 50-55 mph on rural roads. My kids absolutely LOVE it.

It sounds like I should have plenty of reserve to spring for a paint job.

I set a 2003 Reflex up with a 562 and my wife learned to pilot a sidehack with it. We had a lot of fun with it around town. She's not a motorcyclist but has lots of pillion miles and enjoys the sidecars because she doesn't have to "Butch" up with all the protective gear. Shorts and sandals work fine and she can move about all she wants without bothering the pilot.

Cool rig Lonnie.
That car is much bigger than ours, what did it weigh?

My boys are much like your wife. I ride a V-strom and they hate gearing up to ride with me.
With the Reflex rig I just make them wear a helmet, they can just slap it on and hop in with their street clothes.
I have logged more miles with them on the Reflex rig in the past 2 weeks than in the past 2 years on my bike 😉

I have ridden in the hack with my wife at the controls of the Reflex.
In the Texas rig your real low and the sensation of speed is unreal, 50 feels like 100.
I know why my kids like it so much.

I actually bought this rig just for the Reflex for my wife to use, thinking I would sell off the sidecar.
After using it for a while the car is staying. Its just too much fun and practical to boot.

Kid,
I bought her back in 1961 for $7.50 USD and half the flowers.
Believe me, she's been worth every penny of it!
The probationary period is almost over now but I'm pretty sure that she's a keeper. lol

Seriously, I love her so much that I married her twice.
First in the Courthouse in Portland,OR for us and later in a church in Totem, WA for the families benefit.

Hey Lonnie,

Did your wife like sidehacking? Did she catch the bug and become a true sidehacker? In the photos she sure looked like she was having fun!

My bride still would rather go with me in the hack. That way she doesn't have to "Butch up". She can wear sandals and shorts, take pictures and relax.
She did have fun with the Reflex while we had it. Named it "Glory".

Where did you get your sidecar?
It is really good looking, I did not realize sidecars were available for the Reflex. Any companies you could refer me to? websites? Costs?

How much did it cost? I had no idea you could get sidecars for the Reflex.
Please let me know of any links or referrals you could send my way.

Steven,
I happen to be a Velorex dealer and have quite a bit of information on this conversion.

E-mail me at: nwsidecar@aol.com or call (208)629-8409 if you wish to discuss this further.
