How likely would I be to find a decent used sidecar rig for $6,000 or less? I'm thinking something based on a Japanese standard less than 10 years old with a well setup sidecar. I could wait 6 months to a year to search.
Very likely.
12 year old Kawasaki Voyager XII's are available in great shape for around $4000, so a good sidecar should be able to be added for under $2000.
Keep your eye on CL. There are currently several rigs for sale on CL in the NE for small money. There are serveral of Gold wings of various vintanges, a Suzuki, a Kawi and more. Most are under $3500.

You should be able to get a well sorted used rig for under 6K. However there is also a lot of junk out there in this price range. Educate your self about sidecars. If you find a rig that interests you feel free to contact me before you go and look at it so I can tell you first if it is even worth your time to go look at and second what to look for on the sidecar end of things. Right now we have three used rigs for sale on this site however they start at $8000.
