I have a 1999 Ural Bavarian Classic and am considering removing the hack and using the Ural as a solo rig. I would like to mate the Ural sidecar to a late model (2001-2006) Triumph Bonneville. Dauntless sells mounting hardware that will mate the two with what sounds like little modification. Anyone put the Ural and Triumph together? I am looking for a retro styled rig that I can tour with reliably. I plan trips of up to 1000 miles or more. Will the 790cc air cooled Triumph hold up to interstate speeds for long trips? Any comments are welcomed. Thanks.

My dream rig is a Ural hanging off of a Rocket 3!

We also make mounts for the Rocket 3. But if you are going to run a Rocket 3 you really need the turbo.

The Ural factory sidecar rigs have less trail than their solo bikes and are designed for sidecar usage only.
If you are going to run the Bavarian Classic solo be sure you have adequate trail to do so or you will have an uncontrollable motorcycle.

I'm not sure how much this helps being I have nothing to compare it to (I bought my first sidecar rig just 2 weeks ago), but I just purchased an '04 Bonneville that has a Velorex 562 Cruiser attached. (not sure the weight difference with the Ural). It's absolutely a gas to ride. Seems like plenty of gitty-up off a red light and highway speeds at 65 are comfortable. The original owners opinion was the stock Benneville was a bit sluggish (possibly an individual situation explained just below) and needing some help in the area of hp. He found by removing the stock pea shooter exhaust, putting baffles in the pipes along with some carb mods it increased the hp enough for his liking. I am more than happy with the power it seems to produce, but then it's likely no surprise since my wife and I are a bit on the slender side and he alone weighed more than the 2 of us combined...and his wife was "well matched" to his stature). It's a tad louder than my wife likes when I start it on a quiet Saturday morning 🙂 but the way it's set up it now looks very much like a classic 60's British bike. I really love it.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by less "trail", but the Bavarian Classic is the same bike that Ural sells as their "solo" bike, without the sidecar. Many of the Ural bikes have leading link forks which I do understand are quite precarious when riding "solo", but the forks on the BC are standard telescopic forks. I have ridden it "solo", but due to my extremely square block tires, it did prove to be extremely exciting in turns. I do plan to replace the block tires before any extensive solo riding. What is the definition of trail, is it similar to rake? To the other poster, thanks for the comments about the Bonneville with the hack attached, they were appreciated. The bike I am looking at has had many of the modifications you mentioned. I am hoping it will suit my needs. If anyone else has experience with a Bonneville with a hack it would be greatly appreciated.

You might check with Irbit as to their recommendation about riding bikes that are part of a dedicated factory sidecar combo as solo motorcycles.
Regardless of whether it has Leading link front end or tubular fork setup.
It still may have reduced trail and will not handle well as a solo.

Better safe than sorry!

Please define "trail". It is my understanding the this bike was sold unmodified as a solo bike, or a sidecar rig. The solo did have the mounting equipment installed if you did want to attach a hack in the future. I am sorry for my ignorance, but I need the understanding of trail before I can understand what you mean. Please educate me. Thanks.
