Triple trees revisited
After trying to sort out all of the prior posts on triple trees is the following correct?
The Liberty trees are great quality and installation is not real difficult.
Harley Trike trees require fork legs also so installation is much more difficult.
Remove the steering damper once the trees are installed.
Thanks,
RR
I never have installed the Liberty tree's nor the Harley tree's. The tree's we offer come with fork tube extenders, new bearings and are not much different then installing the stock triple tree's ($995)

I am no expert but I did install a set of the HD TriGlide trees. I am not plugging that method but as far as installation, I think Trees would be Trees. I have a Liberty side car and know they make a quality product, but I don't see how one set would be easier to install than another. As far as the fork legs, they have to come off no matter who's trees you buy. There are two ways around buying the 2 inch longer HD fork legs. Check out all the post and you'll find them.
Jay, I'm trying to visualize what you mean by fork tube extenders. I heard one guy talk about that concept and what he meant was spacers that go inside the fork tubes that keep the tubes extended by adding preload to the springs. Is that what you're talking about or is it something different? Thanks.
In the case of the Harley, there is a bolt going into the top of the fork tube to secure it. We use a longer bolt holding a spacer on that is machined to go over the stock fork cap and is the same diameter as the forks. Most other brands we make a new fork cap that treads into the fork as is it longer it ends up being what the triple tree's clamp to.

Thanks, Jay. I think I understand that and sounds like it truly extends the length of the forks rather than just the compression/sag in them.
When I said more difficult I was referring to spacing the existing fork tubes versus totally replacing them.
