Ronnie,  before you cause most of us olde men to have a brain stroke, let's start with some beginning questions:

Do you have a car or a pickup now ?

Is your Royal Enfield sidecar rig your only transportation?

There is no adult sized sidecar rig that will fit into the back bed of a standard width pickup...period. Only micro-mini sidecar rigs...for kiddies.

So forget that idea.

Also,  forget about hauling your sidecar tub/chassis  from Florida to Colorado,  and back again,  because you happen to have a dual sport bike parked in each location.  Having to unbolt the entire sidecar frame and chassis from the  Royal Enfield, just to haul the sidecar tub to Colorado,  then attach it to the dual sport bike....then repeat this process twice each year....you will get mad, and your little doggies will make very ugly faces at you.

Save time...save money....listen to olde men !

Buy a pickup or car that can easily tow a BearTrack all aluminum trailer,  they make then perfection wide enough for your sidecar rig,  very, very, very easy to load your Royal Enfield sidecar rig onto this trailer, and the size you need cost just under $ 3,000.

Answer my questions above,  so we....the people...know what you are starting with.

One of the cool things about Florida is the plethora of great custom truck shops.  If your F150 is a long bed, and the rig isn't wider than the bed, a custom shop could make something like this for the sidecar.  If the total length of your sidecar rig is less than 8' you'll even be able to close the tailgate. Put your dual sport bike on a hitch carrier.  Just make sure not to exceed total payload, GVW, of the truck and tires.

In this case the total width of the sidecar would need to be less than the wheel well width, or a scissor platform created to lift it above the wheel wells before sliding it in.

Might be worth talking to a few truck shops, or custom shops to see what they can do.  When you get to where you're going, something like this unit could lean up against a wall.  Made from aluminum it should be fairly reasonable to move around with an appliance dolly.

We see a lot of these around here, but the ramps are pretty steep, and makes the truck pretty top heavy.  Would not be comfortable in a big cross winds coming across the plains with a sidecar rig on top.

@miles-ladue sorry.. I didn’t give everyone the baseline picture.

I currently have a jeep compass latitude with a hitch (not AWD, but I can switch to another car/truck as I’m not attached to anything), plus an RE INT650+cozy sidecar (the ones Kevin sells). I’m soon going to get a dual sport like RE Himalayan (or lighter, since my off-roading in Costa Rica on a porker like RE scram411 was not the easiest).

My silliness is taking me to Palm Springs, CA from Jan-Apr 26. Then to Boulder/Golden, CO May-June (will try to extend to Oct 26]. I intend to make best use of my visits by riding / driving / hiking/ paragliding in these two places.

I found one guy in Miami that sells the 6x8 beartrack trailer..but soon realized that I won’t be able to store the trailer in my apartment complex. I also have ZERO experience with a trailer so I’m scared that I’ll be a total screw up… I’ll be driving and the trailer will either fly away or swing and destroy cars around me on the highway.

In Palm Springs, I cannot find a single Bear Track trailer dealer. I guess, one idea is to get a truck (these backs easily fit a motorcycle) and man up to tow the sidecar + bike in the BearTrack trailer. In Palm Springs and Golden, CO.. I am not in an apartment complex, so I’ll have space to store the trailer in the houses that I’m staying in.

As long as I don’t go back to south Florida, I can manage to store a trailer wherever I stay (I’ll air bnb or rent houses anyways).

Thanks again for your inputs!

Here's another thought...

Some moving companies and Less Than Load (LTL) carriers have loading docks that are lower than standard dock height.  If your pickup was setup so that the sidecar rig could be driven onto the dock, then your truck backed up to the loading dock a couple of sturdy ramps would be all that is needed to drive the sidecar into the back of your truck.

You'd need to do some research at both ends, and secure agreements.  It is very easy for a company to say "no".  Maybe starting in Florida if you can make it easy for a company to say yes, they could help you locate a company in California and Colorado that would say "yes" based on the support from the company in Florida.   If I was the manager of said company I'd want to see everything in place to have a really good visual on how it would all work.

Good luck!

NI, NO, NO, NO, NO !

Let's not go around in circles, and twist Ronnie's noggin anymore than is necessary to help him, rather than send him on goose chases that will cost him money, and frustration.

K-I-S-S

Ronnie, your Jeep Compass Latitude is an okay vehicle for towing a BearTrack trailer. There is no need at all for a AWD or 4WD vehicle for towing a lightweight aluminum trailer.

Find out exactly how WIDE your RE Sidecar rig is.... exactly.

BearTrack makes trailers that are 6 feet wide, and both 8 feet long, and 20 feet long.

I suggest the 6 x 10, so you can haul your future Royal Enfield Himalayan cross ways on the front of the trailer bed, then haul your Royal Enfield Int Sidecar rig behind the Himalayan, and it will all fit on that 10' bed, with a nice folding ramp at the back of the trailer.

Believe me, Ronnie, you WILL thank me if you do it this way.

You spend only $ 3,000. for the new trailer, it pays for itself the first year, and....

Ronnie...no one on planet Earth looks to buy anything in Palm Springs.... unless you send though Butler out for groceries. Palm Springs is the worst place to look for a BearTrack trailer.

Go to their website, use the dealer locator, and find a dealer in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, etc....but NOT in Palm Springs.

And Ronnie, if you are still listening....take your Jeep Compass Latitude with your new BearTrack trailer to an empty parking lot, a school parking lot on a week night, or Sunday morning, or a large Walmart parking lot....and learn how to drive with a trailer behind you.

Start by learning where NOT to drive. Be willing to park away from the madding crowd, in the distant parking spaces, where you can take up two parking spots, fire and aft. Like in a Home Depot store parking lot....the parking spaces furthest from the entrance, so you can pull in ..and pull through to the next spot, so your trailer is in the first spot. Towing a trailer isn't scary, you just have to THINK.

@miles-ladue ohh if it works as described, that would be a dream thing!!! Whoa 🤯

the BearTrack trailer I found in Miami was $5-6k total.. but even that would be cheaper for me in the long run.

I’m looking at this url - https://beartracktrailers.com/product-category/utility-trailers/single-axle-utility-trailers/ (is that the correct category?)

From my notes here’s what I had jotted down

Need trailer of minimum

69 inches (W) x 84 inches (L)

6 ft x 8 ft

72 inches x 96 inches

If I get another bike

length of 83.5 inches

width of 31.1 inches

height of 45.9 inches

Total trailer width needed

FORGET IT”

cross ways would mean that the width has to be a minimum of 84 inches / 7 ft. Hmm 🤔 shoot. Maybe it won’t fit like that? Or should I look at another category?

I could also easily rent a normal motorcycle whenever I want to go places where I don’t want to risk my kids’ lives .. but in the USA, rental motorcycles are usually giant SUV looking bikes. I’m a dainty 135 lb guy and look like an ant on an elephant on big bikes .. it’s very embarrassing.

Thank you for your help! I can’t wait to ride in Colorado (my old home state) and in California deserts (hopefully not too dangerous for my kids).

@miles-ladue oh I absolutely have to do that kind of practice... I find SUVs to be giant vehicles.. so an SUV + trailer (that does whatever the heck it wants) is a scary thought..

I always book motels and have always seen folks with trailers park across multiple parking spots. I’m DEFINITELY practicing .. like I did before I took the kids for our rides (max 4 hours ) in south Florida..

of course I’ll practice! I have 2 kids and an old mom to take care of 🙂

Thank you VERY much for your help. Thank you!

Ronnie, something is crazy about the price they gave you for a BearTrack trailer.

Example: I bought the 82" wide (between fenders) by 19 foot long single axle trailer, with the bi-fold ramps as a tailgate, including a spare tire, wheel, and the mount for that spare tire, and my ALL-IN cost was $ 3,500.00.

Now, I bought it brand new from a trailer dealer in Central Oregon....no sales tax.

Maybe Miami charges too much...hint, hint, hint.

Ronnie, are you not used to shopping around for the best prices ?

Do you only buy big ticket items where you live?

If you buy from a trailer dealer in Missouri, they will give you a "trip pass" to get the trailer back to where you live, so you can register it where you live, and pay sales tax on it, for where you live, but you save $ 1,000s of dollars buying it in country locations, in farm country, rather than next to million dollar homes.

And, Ronnie... you are interrupting my European holidays, as right now I am in Saint Aignan, France, during an 80 days tour of Europe with my wife.

You scoundrel 🤪

Are you trying to tell us that a RE Himalayan is 8 feet long ???

Don't make me fly from Paris to Miami just to show you how to park a motorcycle sideways on a trailer, and not take up 8 feet.

Eat

@miles-ladue ooops !! I’m sorry. Enjoy your vacation …

When do you get back? I’ll start asking after that.

Meanwhile, I’ll google the term “trip pass” .. I didn’t even know these dealers vary their prices!

I’m in Fort Lauderdale.. and I see various locations near my state https://beartracktrailers.com/dealer-locator/

I’ll look for a 8 ft wide by 10+ feet long trailers on bear website.

Enjoy your vacation and your missus. Thank you so much.

Ronnie, I would buy the 6.5 foot wide, by 10 foot long trailer. You have no need for the 82" wide trailer, which is what I have.

6.5 feet, or 78 inches, is more than wide enough for your needs
