The "Blackbird Stealth Bomber" is on the road
Finally managed to take my Road Glide/Ranger combo (aka "Blackbird stealth Bomber") out for its maiden voyage today. It handled very, very well and it wasn't long before all the skills from my Ural driving days returned and I was having a blast. If the weather holds out tomorrow will be the first ride for my Loyal Sidecar Ballast, Sir George of Grey County.
Nice looking rig. Have fun.

Well, turns out he has a riding style that is best described as "casual". He sort of slouches over to the right so he can easily poke his head out for a blast of air whenever he feels like it, or lick the various surfaces of the sidecar's interior without having to make too much of an effort. Anyway, his first ride went very, very well and he has now earned the title of Loyal Sidecar Ballast.

Nice looking rig!

Schlabber, Schlabber... For sure Sir George enjoys the priviledge to ride out exclusively with his master.
I hope you prepared a strong anchour point and found a good body harness for Sir George. I recommend you to keep the latch pretty short and hook it up below the chest as my Negra (Labrador bread) once went over board and only with very much acrobacy was able to keep her head above the ground and Nana (Golden Retriever/Irish Setter bread) went quite a few times over the rigs edge. My dear blind Luke (Golden Retriever) has little change to avoid bruises, but anyway he loves to stick his nose into the wind and will as soon the Jaquarna transition will finish. And the most fever of all Camilla (Pincher bread that looked like the Taco Bell Chiuahua) was the only one who would ride as secure as a surfer in the wind. For her the latch was just a safety item for the case of Murffey's law. I don't remember that she ever got hurt in the sidecar except when jealous Negra would jump on top of her.
It seems like as bigger the dog as easier they get catapulted by centrifugal forces.
Have a nice summer with Your buddy.

Fear not, Sven. George has a very good harness, it's the one I've used in the car ever since I brought him home, and it is attached to a very securely mounted eyebolt behind the seat. The lead is long enough to allow him to stick his head around the windshield, but not enough to let him jump out.
I think we're going to have a great riding season together!
