I have a CSC FS3 sidecar that I am going to attach to a 2008 GL1800... soon! I have contacted Side Effects in Kamloops and they seem thave a good reputation for this and are a reasonable driving disatance for me.

I will get the SteerRite mod.... but after that, I have no idea of what to put in the sidecar. I am guessing that there should be some LED interior lights... a cooling fan.... a couple of electrical outlets... But that still leaves a lot of space. How many of you put in a sat. radio, GPS etc Do I get it wired for another intercom connection... maybe another connection for heated clothing?

There is a small dash area that has nothing on it and seems like a waste if I don't put something there.

The sidecar does have an extra gas tank so maybe a fuel gauge for that tank... but wouldn't that make more send on the motorcycle dash where I could see it?

For me, the bike is not missing anything .... and I am not one to replace original parts for chrome... I would be more interested in adding some of those LED special effects lights.... I know some people look at these as being tacky but if done properly, I like them. Maybe a spot-light or two on the outside ??
I was thinking about a forward looking camera that just runs constantly... not sure if that would be better than trying to mount a regular video camera somewhere. What about a review view mirror?

I saw some portable air conditioner unit but they looked too tall... has anyone seen any that cool with water/ice and have a low profile?

I would like a superbright spot light that could melt the paint off those idiot vehicles that fail to dim their lights or that have their lights so far out of alignment that they just blind anyone...

PS... the sidecar has just been painted WHITE... and needs to be painted a Cabernet Red... will do that after the bike is attached.

any picture of how you folks have setup the interiors of your sidecars would be appreciated. I don't know what goodies I want to put in this sidecar so I might as well start putting together a "dream" list and see what happens.... up until 3 years ago, the GL and sidecar were only a dream. I got the GL 3 years ago and the sidecar last year....

I would appreciate any pics of the interiors of your sidecars...

thanks,

Bernie

I don't have anythng extra in my sidecar, though I have been known to bungee a boombox onto the luggage rack.

A spotlight would be cool. a marine supply store might have a remotely operated one.

I have a GL1500, with a Hannigan sidecar. We have the helmet speaker cord in the sidecar so that my passenger can hear the intercom, radio, and cb, it also has a push to talk button on the dash, if she wants to talk on the CB. We have installed a cigarette lighter in the car, to charge the cell phone, or what ever. It also has a rear view mirror on the right side of the car, so that the passenger can see what is behind us, (she really likes this). I have thought of putting a strip of LEDs, under the dash for some interior lighting, but haven't done it yet. Let us know what you end up doing to yours.

Consider a power outlet for heated vest or other gear(GPS, camera, cell phone charger) maybe a sound system or intercom hook up, glove box, cup holder. RAM mounts can be handy for camera or other gadget mounting.

On the dashboard is a cigar lighter, used for a 12 volt electric blanket, an intercom volume control, a 6 cd changer, and a thermometer. Under the dash are two speakers, an led light, and an MP3 jack.

On each side of the windscreen is a Baker Wind Wing on the outside and a cup holder on the inside. I can reach the left one from the bike so Barb can refill it with coffee from the thermos.

She has a remote for the cd player in one of the side pockets. On the side window is a small solar powered fan to help circulate fresh air. It's really nice in slow traffic or parade mode.

There's an adjustable foot rest on the floor, and a light and cigar lighter in the trunk. In the trunk, I carry a folding chair, a small cooler, a scissors jack, and a trailer coupler. I also have a soft snowboard case back there. It is just the right size to slide the two zip off windows in it so they lay flat instead of getting creased or damaged.

There is also a rear view mirror on the right side and she has asked me to install a horn that she can control. Kiss

With all that lighting and added lectical load you are contemplating, I would be thinking about installing an aux battery with isolation diodes. That way you won't drain down the starting battery on the wing and it will still charge from the alternator. MHO

I'd think one or two auxiliary driving lights, and maybe some bright LED marker lights would be in order. I'm in the process of outfitting 2 sidecars. A car battery is going in the back of the CSC Friendship II on my GL1500. I like Sidecar Mike's idea of a horn the wife can control - should be easy to make same horn triggered from either handlebar switch or inside sidecar cockpit - great idea!

i've been thinking of putting either a hood scoop on mine or a grille in the front so the s/c can get some forced air to cool with. i'm in hottern hell texas so the ol will cook in there without something. i've built a water cooled air cond and may go with that but don't want to worry with it right now. car is being painted and hope to have it on the road soon.

My Coupe Royale had a couple of these Snap Vents on each side of the body. http://craigvetter.com/pages/Online_Store/Replacement_Parts/Details.html#Anchor-Original-46384 About 1/3 of the way down the page.

Easy to install, just pick up a 3 1/4 inch holesaw bit from Harbor Freight, drill a hole where you want it, and snap it in. An added benefit is since they are clear, they let in enough light to find that little dingus thast your passenger drops on the floor.
