Steerite Trees
Just got my modified trees back and installed on the '08 FXDL and remounted the 563 Tour hack.
The bike rides just fine as a solo with quicker steering but no problems.
The completed rig drives with very light steering and a bit of over steer in the right handers, but no effort needed to turn left, which was a bear before with a passenger in the boat.
Since my right shoulder fix doesn't seem to be improving all that well the Steerite may get me back on tour this year. I'm shooting for the National in Tahoe for the real test.
Last year the farthest I got was Ely, NV and Bonneville, UT. Three road days and two weeks of ouch afterwards.

Good to hear the Steerite's may get you back on the long drive. Thanks for the comments, as it's the left handers with a passenger that are so tough with out Sportster. I'm keeping them on my wish list.

Did you have surgery on your shoulder Lonnie? I have a suspected torn rotator cuff in my left shoulder but am trying to avoid the knife or at least until I get insurance that will caver it.
The raked trees I put on this winter sure helped in riding the bike. Now, if I could just lift my arm past the 90 degree point I would be all set.
Scrinch,
Right shoulder arthroscopic surgury last Nov. 13th to repair a frayed rotator cuff, longitudinal tear in right trap tendon and a torn bicep tendon.
Was rehabbing well till 2 weeks ago when I jumped in to save a clients new Bonneville rig that he was loading from slipping off the ramp sideways. Bad choice! I'm hoping I didn't retear a tendon. Time will tell.
By all means have insurance if possible. I'm over $20K so far with this one. I opted to do it in late fall, there's a long recovery period at best.

Ouch!! It is really hard to not react when something like that happens. I hope it did not cause another tear.
Ya , I have to finish paying for a hernia surgery I had 2 years ago before I even think of this. That was ONLY $12K out of my pocket. Getting old not only hurts, it seems to be damn expensive also.

It's not that bad when you consider our only other option. lol
Cheers,

Lonnie....
Pictures?
Of the trees?
Who ever did the welding on these forks didn't do mine, mine almost look machine welded and after close to 40 years in the welding field I was impressed at the quality and I told them so
They had a welder go TU and replaced it with another new one that had problems. Finally the welding was farmed out to another welder.
Moral: Don't ever send any work out on Friday the 13th.
