Sidecar tonneau cover
Hi everyone,
I've recently managed to get my Vespa sidecar frame rolling with a new axel, hub and wheel. I am now looking to add a tonneau cover. Doubt if there is a standard cover for my style sidecar, so I'm hoping to get guidance from this community about making one or sourcing a place to make me one. Attached are some images of the sidecar. If there is a traditional way to measure the tub for a cover, I'd love to hear the process.
Thanks, Josh
I would use CAD design. Cardboard aided design. Find a piece of cardboard big enough to make a shape you like that fits. Realize you’re going to have some sag in the middle. So make sure you get the snap caps or quarter turn caps nice and tight on the fitment
Josh....I got this.
First, contact Mark at Florida Sidecar Products, and search his website. If you don't find what you're looking for, call or email him.
Secondly, if Mark can't help you, find a local boat upholstery shop that makes Bimini tops for boats. Call them, then take your Vespa sidecar rig to them, and show them what you want to have made. Since there are currently no snaps on the sidecar body, have them decide where to put the snaps on the Tonneau cover, then they can install the receiver snaps on the sidecar body to correlate with the snaps on the new Tonneau cover.
Cost....the entire Tonneau cover and snaps, all in, should cost you approximately $ 100.00

A good friend has a boat canvas & upholstery shop in the Los Angeles harbor area. He does this sort of thing all the time. If you aren't close to an area that has marine business, an auto upholstery shop that does convertibles and pickup tonneau covers would be worth looking into.
