I found a nice little sidecar of the old tried and tested German design in China and imported it for my Savage. The Chinese had them mounted of 125 cc machines, so I knew it was going to be light, but that's nothing a bag of salt wont fix if needs be.

A Filipino friend of mine thought he could do a better job of installing a sidecar than me , so I took a chance and let him do it, he was right, he made a perfect job. It drives perfectly, its solid and safe. I could not have asked for more.
He said that where he comes from this is how they build them for transporting heavy loads. He strengthened not only the sidecar frame but the bike frame as well. :D

The bike has loads of torque and handles everything with ease, and cruises nicely at 50- 60mph. it makes for a perfect little sidecar combination.

Now all I need to do is prep and paint the pipework. I can't make up my mind whether to paint it black , or give it some colour to make it a feature.  Whatever happens it will be getting something on the front.

I will post some more pics when finished

A bit of  colour makes a  difference

The sidecar cost $ 1470 shipped to Vancouver, and another $600 to get it to Sask. The bike cost $2500.  Total $4570.       This does not include the work done to fit the sidecar as a friend did it for me at no charge, but I do know he spent around two days doing it.   If I had had to pay for it what the cost would have been, well your guess is as good as mine, but it would not have been cheap.

For me it was worth the hassle, The Savage had the features I liked, I liked that it's tiny, has a 650cc single OHV thumper engine with carb and belt drive. I ended up with a lightweight great looking little rig with lots of torque, capable of cruising all day at 60 mph /100 kph.  Just what I wanted basic_smile
