sidecar
i just got a 1500 honda with a california sidecar but i don't know what model or year. got ahold of cal. sidecar and they are no help. the only thing on the car is #100269 cal. sidecar
My own opinion for what it is worth is that your California is a little light for a 1500cc machine.
You will probably need to ballast it with at least 50 pounds.
You can get wheel weights from a tire shop and melt them in a large cast iron fry pan. skim off the scrap steel and scum on the surface. let it cool and turn it upside down and bonk it to get a large hockey puck of about 50 pounds that can be bolted to the frame as far out board as is practical. The farther outboard the more effective it will be.
I prefer the corner behind the wheel.

It is most likely Frendship 1;2 or 3. If 2 people can not sit in it - it is not Frendship 3. Check California sidecar webb site. If what you see there looks like what you have - you have Frendship 2. Any diference you have Frendship 1. Or you can post a picture.... Any way you have best bike/sidecar combination. Congratulation.
California sidecars came in various sizes and shapes. Some were iffy for your bike and some were more than right for it. If you do not hav eapicture maybe the Best bet is to google 'california sidecar' and then click on 'images' on the page that google brings up. Look over the pictures and you will probably find which model you have.

Actually, California told me the Friendship 2 was available as either a one or a two passenger, though I've never seen a 2 person one.
The 2 or 3 would do fine on a GL1500. I'm in the process of mounting a three on my GL1500
Friendship 1

They must have been blowing smoke at you Mike.
The FS II had the same body as the FS I except for the opening cockpit feature for easy entry.
2 little kids, maybe.

Perhaps! Just the same, what he said was that the Friendship 2 SE and the Friendship 3 share the same frame, and the Friendship 2 and Friendship 1 had a smaller frame, designed for a single passenger.
I've not owned a 2 or a 2SE, so I can only go by what I was told.
We have seen some inconsistancies between the frindship I and II and what was thought to be the telltale differences. If anyone recalls the CSC situtations back when they were in California this makes sense.
