I read with great interest the comments made about me selling my rig to "oilman". Most were very helpful to him and are appreciated. Some others not so much. My wife and I have had 5 (five) gold wings with side cars thru the years. I have been riding side cars since 8 years old and I am now 67. I would say that I am an expert. Be it that there is nothing wrong with a gold wing, they are a great bike, probably one off the top three touring models. But they make different brands for different people just like they make chevy, dodge and fords. Why someone would want to throw water on another persons dream befuddels me. Yes it is a free world and we are allowed to voice our opinion, but there is a time and place for this. "oilman" bought my bike and I am shipping it to him with many more items that I purchased just for this rig that oilman did not know were going with it. He is happy and I am happy. KEEP IN MIND THIS RIG WAS MY BIRTHDAY PRESENT FROM MY WIFE. I have received a lot of pleasure from this rig and if I can pass this on to someone else to have as much pleasure, why not do it.
Now for the good part: Some may recall who my wife and I are. Those that don't I will tell you. We are kind hearted people that try to go the extra mile when we can. We are also the ones that hold 4 (four) land speed records and a national drag record. These records were made with motorcycles with side cars and a passanger. No my wife and I were not passangers. My wife drove and I drove. We had two female passangers. My wife is the worlds fastest male or female. We have the trophies to verify. These records were set in 1987 & 1988. Pam holds the 600cc and the 1000cc TURBO records. I hold the 1000cc normally asperated and the 500cc as well as the national drag record. Our records will never be broken because they no longer allow passangers to ride at Bonneville. I have bent your ears long enough. Let's get behind "oilman" and help him out and show him just how good this association is in welcoming another side car driver to the fold. Oh yes please forget my misspelled words.

Your Record holding Bingham Mark II is still languishing behind Fred's Big Twin shop in Boise.
I understand that since SCTA is no longer running the store at Bonneville monkeys are back in again.

Here's some then and now shots of the hack.

Wow, if that is true, do you know anyone that want's to sponser an attempt at us doing 200 mph? That is my next goal. It would be nice to have a side car member in the 2 club.

Yes those are some of the pic. of us at Bonneville. The first one is Pam driving and me behind listening to the instructions and one of our daughters on left shoulder of the flag man. The second is me on the 500 Interceptor and the third is me on the 1000 hurricane. All three bikes set the records for their class. I could send you a copy of the video tape I converted to a DVD it has all the news coverage we received from ESPN, Nashville Network, and local stations around here.

Skip,
I also have the Journal entries of Pam, Maria Briggs, Theresa Kinkaid and yourself, plus some other material from September of '87 and '88.
I put it together for a nostalgia article in Hack'd and sent it to Chris Dodson but she folded Hack'd Magazine before it got into print.

Wow! How did you come up with this stuff? Do you also have pics of the BMW that Pam set the big record on? You know she was doing 155 mph and blew a hole in #1 piston and then coasted thru the traps at 141.116. The drag record is at 113 and some change. Are you one of the people we sent the alblum (spelling) to?
Thanks for letting me know that was making a lot of memories come back.

Lonnie:
I bet your article is interesting. I hope you will consider sending the article to the USCA, The Sidecarist.

I sent pix, journal entries and other related material of the record runs to Dave The editor of Sidecarist last November but nothing came of it.

I've just got a couple of poor copies of the record runs that I got from Doug Bingham's album
Faces aren't shown but the numbers are.

Well, that sucks. I know that there was a time when there was a problem with the email to the editor. Perhaps your article was never received and is drifting somewhere in limbo land. If your article is still available, I hope you will consider resubmitting it.
