I am hoping to have a Gen 3 Dream sidecar built by Hannigan over the winter.  In addition to the pure fun of the sidecar, the sidecar will be used to haul a human passenger (my wife or grandkids) or my dogs.  I have two dogs - one about 85 pounds, the second about 45 pounds.  If I need to take out the seat for the dogs, has anyone ever seen any type of quick release for a seat inside a sidecar?  A quick release mechanism would certainly make the removal and re-install of the seat a lot easier than crawling underneath the car...

The seat in my Champion car is velcroed in place with a couple of straps with snaps on.  Hannigan installs their seats with a fair bit more structure.  I imagine that there are options in any situation for "quickly" removing the seat.

Alright...alright...I shall reveal the answer, which is quite elementary, my good man.

Once you receive your new Hannigan Dream sidecar, you will find that the seat inside the sidecar can be slid back and forth, and it can be reclined to and fro also.

With the seat back in the full vertical position, and the seat bottom slid all the way backwards...look under the front of the seat, and you will see two seat rails. At the very forward position of each of those seat rails you will see a STOP, so that the seat cannot be slid forward any farther.

You need to remove those seat rail STOPS, so that the seat can actually be slid all the way forward, and OFF the attaching seat rails, allowing the seat to be removed, yet the lowest seat rails will remain in place, bolted to the sidecar floor, through the floor.

You can now slide that seat forward SO far, that it will disengage with the corresponding seat rails that are bolted to the seat floor.

To reinstall the seat, you simply place it back on the floor, forward of the corresponding seat rails, then gently lift the seat up just enough, and move it rearward, so that it can engage the corresponding seat rails, and once again be a seat that can slide forward and backward as needed.

If you are concerned about the STOPS being missing, and for some odd reason the seat gets slid so far forward on its' own that it disengages with the lower seat rails....there is a fix for that too !

Drill a hole at the forward end of each of the bolted down seat rails, the ones bolted to the floor, and through the floor. Then tap each hole to accept a 6mm bolt, and when the seat is IN place, as for normal use, install that 6mm bolt into the holes that you tapped, and have that 6mm bolt act as the new STOP, warding off any nefarious wraith from sliding the seat too far forward, thereby detaching the seat from the fixed rails.

As I said, it is all quite elementary, my good man.

Ahhh - kind of like kitchen drawers!  That's great and alleviates a bit of stress I've had about this issue!

Thank you, sir!
