Now I can't wait
Well, I bought the Spirit Eagle just cause it was there. It had been on a 74 Guzzi Eldorado for 35 years... Hey! I have a 74 Eldorado.
Took the bike and sidecar to Bingham this morning. Now I want it back.
Here's the bike (20 year old scan, much rustier now) and the sidecar. You can see the sidecar in this video:
And a picture from the 4th.
Congrats on the sidecar! I've been looking for a Spirit Eagle and saw that on Craigslist a few weeks ago.

My first sidecar rig was a 74 Eldorado with a Ural sidecar. From my memories, that was a great combo. Since I had no other experience at the time it was a learning time. One other thing, without the sidecar mounted that Guzzi got 50 MPG (US), with the sidecar attached and loaded for a trip I still got 45 MPG. That with it's 6.5 gallon tank gave it a good range.
Here is a pic of that Eldorado rig:
Picked it up this morning.
I'm jazzed but it is sitting on the trailer and I'm working.

I thought you said in your first post that the bike was much rustier than in that photo. Sure looks nice to me!
Sarge
Thanks Sarge but she's about a 20 foot & squint. Now, I don't lover her any less but she could (and maybe will) be prettier. I have the side covers being stripped for painting and its time for new maybe heavier shocks. I am tempted by the retro look of the sidecar to put on some fishtails I have on my Ambassador. I am just afraid it will be too loud for the dog.
This rig is so much lighter than my Cal II & Watsonian I know I will enjoy it. I ran it down the driveway and nearly flopped it over on the first right. It now has about 50 lbs. of lead in the back.
I am gone all day tomorrow but will get her out on the road for a bit Sunday.
Before it is really ready; new tires, rewire lights & signals and replace the petcocks and the rubbers on the tank mounting. I also have velocity stacks to put on the carbs.
I have removed the stickers from the sidecar and will try to match the paint and touch up all the scratches. Over the years appliance white has done pretty well for the Guzzi.

Sarge is right: The rig sure looks good in the pics. And, yes, maybe a little "light on the side" without ballast. Please keep us up to to date with your progress.

Well, decided this is my keeper.
Here she is with new saddlebags, cleaned up, stickers removed and bike rewired. 50 pounds of lead and an extra battery in the chair. Not to mention a little extra confidence now that I've gone a few miles.
I've done about 75 miles with the dog. 50 pounds of lead and an extra battery in the chair.
Since I don't plan on becoming a world traveler, I'm selling my other rig and will use this for tooling around local or trailer it when I go out of town.
Very Nice! Definitely a keeper. 🙂
Looks like a dog agility training course in the background. I am guessing that your dog is in better shape than most passengers. 🙂
Have fun - Ride safe -
Hope to see ya on the road.

g,
She does OK. Now, she costs me a bundle in equipment, travel and, of course, motorcycles. But I've knocked off 30 poundsand am having more fun than I ever expected with this agility stuff.
Ths agility course is the only uncluttered area at my place so it is my photo area.
