newbie sidecar interest
Hello all...I'm seriously looking into adding a sidecar to my 1100 vstar classic. I have 55,000 miles on the bike and it isn't seeing the saddle time it once did due to me jumping on other bikes in the stable. My wife recently said she thinks she would ride more with me if we had a side car. so I think I'm going to convert the vstar. Right now I'm thinking about either the texas sidecar ranger or the hannigan classic. probably leaning more toward the ranger right now. however I'd be curious for any thoughts. I did find the great comparison that was previously posted on here.
again..hi gang and I hope to be joing the sidecar world soon. i have permission to buy and I will be seizing the moment. lol.

Welcome to the world of sidecaring. I know people at both Texas Sidecar and Hannigan good people. Look at WT of sidecar it is good if the sidecar is about 1/3 of bike and rider.
We have a 1100 Classic with a Hannigan Classic sidecar. It's a great rig and rides very well. The Ranger didn't offer a sidecar brake at the time we were looking, which we wanted and Hannigan did. If you want to see pictures of it, e-mail me at bthompson@fuse.net.
We are reps for Hannigan and also Texas Sidecar. Both companies are run by sidecar enthusiats who take a lot of pride in their work and the produts they produce. You won't go wrong either way.
Right now we are offering a winter discount

Hi Bob
I have a 2005 V-Star 1100 with a Texas Ranger mounted. The Texas has been quite satisfactory and the V-Star has been a fine tug. I used Bob Wark of The Warkshop in southern Ohio to order the Texas and mount it. His work was superb and I recommend him highly. The folks at Texas are also terriffic to deal with.
I did find the Ranger just a bit light and run a 35lb weight in the trunk to settle it in RH turns.

thanks everyone for the feedback. I called both Hannigans and texas side car today. I wasn't able to talk with anyone at hannigan's yet but I was able to talk with Texas. They were very informative about their product. I'm looking forward to moving forward with a side car soon. bob
i am the installer at Hannigans, and my first sidecar rig was a classic on an 02 v-star 1100 custom. i put over 35000 miles on it with no problems, handled well even pulling camp trailer. i sold it to build my current Warrior/GT rig. i still miss that lighter, more agile v-star sometimes, even though my 1700 cc rig is quite enjoyable and fast.
I am leaving 5am tommorrow from Va to Murray ky to get a hannigan 2+2 installed om my 2003 Ultra. This will be my third 2+2 I will have in my garage. The other two are on wings.
Thanks for all the info here.We ordered a Texas Side Car yesterday.
