Hi all! Thinking about picking up a Calif. Friendship II Sidecar to mount on one of my bikes so my other half or dog,(whichever wins, can go riding with me! I have a 99/V Star 650,(not big enough), and a 84 Virago xv1000, no sub frame. Out on the Virago Tech site it was mentioned that a sidecar was mounted on a virago 750, but am unable to get ahold of that person but in a posting they did, they mention a guy that built a sub frame, his name "sidecarmike". Can anyone out there help?

I've fabricated sub-frames for the Virago's at our old shop in Marysville, WA.
We're still in the sidecar industry but have moved to Boise, Idaho.
Not being a retail manufacturer, we build on the bike, for the bike.

I'm building a subframe for my Suzuki V-Strom right now. If you have decent fabrication skills it really isn't that tough. I'd be happy to send you pics if you need some ideas.

Also, you might want to consider finding something like an older Velorex car and using your 650 as the rig. Somethimes less is more.

Don't write-off your 650 as a hack rig, I'm pulling a Kenna sidecar from Dauntless in Enumclaw with a 650 scooter 🙂

Too bad your still not here. The 1000 is torn down and has been on the back shelf waiting to be put back together so bringing it over there is out, even if it were together right now with the weather and the passes would make it difficult.

Thanks! I found Dauntless on the web and may have to get it down there after getting it back together.

I've contacted Motorvation Engineering Sidecars in Iowa, because I found that they have already made mounts for the Virago 1100 and I believe they use the same frame as the 1000. As far as using the 650 V Star, no can do. I got it a year ago this last July and have put to much into it, including lowering the rear 3". Click link to see pic.
