Finally mounted box to bike.

Few minor issues to work out and I will be home free(lol)

07 TLE ultra classic to 13 street glide.
No sidecar brake as sg has abs and sidecar doesn't .

Took it for short ride today, between raindrops and need to fine tune the alignment.
Can't wait to work out the bugs.

ABS or not, I would still hook up the sidecar brake. You have added more mass to the bike, why would you not want all of the brake that is possible?

Tom, we see all kinds of new owner installations on here, but nobody seems to talk about the settings they used, and more importantly, what fine-tuning changes they made to adjustments and why. I am always curious! At first glance I thought your car's wheel was pretty much even with the bike's rear wheel. how much lead did you give it? How much lean-out did you give the bike? Toe-in?

The rig looks good. When I first put mine together, I rode it without the sidecar brake for a little while but once I hooked it up I was happy to have it. I don't know if there is anything special to be done because of the ABS, but I agree with Jay's comments above.

Thanks for the comments.

Going to set lean at 1degree, toe in at 3/4"
How would abs brakes affect the no abs sidecar?

The sidecar brake would work with the ABS, but the brake pressure to the sidecar brake would pulse the same as the bike's rear wheel. The sidecar wheel would be loaded differently and may have a different surface coefficient of friction than the bike wheel, so it might lock and unlock differently. I suppose this could cause some instability when braking but maybe the effect is not that great. In the manuals I've read, Harley suggests braking with both front and rear brakes when a sidecar is installed. Doing that makes my bike stop pretty straight for me, but I don't know if ABS equipped bikes would behave differently.

Do you have the shorter brake pedal? The service manuals say 2002 and later bikes need a shorter brake pedal because of a clearance issue with the sidecar frame. The attached picture is the only thing I could find in the latest sidecar service manual (covers up to 2012 bikes) which mentions ABS.

Yes I had to replace the stock rear brake pedal with the one from 2002-2007 softtail model. Pedal sits more upright with no issues.

I need to look into the brake issues. Thanks

THAT SHOULD BE 1 DEGREE OF LEAN OUT. NOT LEAN IN, AS RECOMMENDED BY HARLEY.
I ALSO REPLACED THE REAR BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER FOR MORE VOLUME, ON MY STREET GLIDE.

don't know harley systems, but bmw abs increases brake cavity volume to reduce brake pressure. don,t know how that would be affected by extra volume of the sidecar brake

The extra volume on the Harley feeds the Brembo sidecar brake not ABS.

Great looking rig Tom, never hooked up a sidecar brake myself!
