Wow this is great that Henry like to ride..I'm hoping that i can get our puppy to ride in my hack when it's done..She's about 8 months old Austrailian Cattle dog/Border Collie mix..Is there any special place you can by some Doggles?

I get them at a local pet store Dog Town but you can find them on line as well. I've seen them on several pet sites but can't think of any off the top of my head. Try www.doggles.com. Good luck getting your pup to ride and enjoy it! Archie took to it so naturally I thought I'd never find another but with less training than I thought, Henry is taking to it just fine. Sure makes my outlook on things upbeat once again...

Our Maddie, a Border Collie/Lab??/Chow?? rescue dog was about 16 months before we were able to start "solo" neighborhood rides, and 20 months before we could safely make more extended rides. Seems the B.Collie or Lab in her made her slower to mature. She quickly learned use the corner of the sidecar cockpit to push the doggles on top of her head, right after we reach speed and I can't do anything about it.

HE is a beautiful pup!
I 'd have had a hard time walking out of the shelter without him - and I already have (2) golden retrievers.

That is great Tom !! Best of luck with your new Pal.

Persis is a little put out as I sold my rig, but she will be happy when I get the new rig going. It is going to be a
military theme so Persis will get a new pair of Camo goggles and a helmet with netting and sticks. I am sure she will love chewing the sticks when we stop.

Lee- Archie used to shake his head and the doggles would come up onto his forehead. If I was quick enough, I could reach over and push them down even at speed. If I waited any too long they'd fall out of line and I couldn't put them back where they belonged without stopping. Once when I was leading a large group, he shook his head so hard they came off onto the road. The bike behind me stopped and picked them up. The whole group stopped as well. For a time after that, I ran his collar through the main band on the doggles. Over all, he kept them on very well for all the years we rode together. So far Henry has kept them on very well but once he was hunkered up under the hood and somehow scraped one lens on the rough interior scratching it badly. We've got lots of lenses though so a replacement was at hand. I guess I should get him a pair of his own. So far we're using what he inherited from Archie. And there are still two pairs on the wall as part of the Archie memorial. Good place for the scratched lens...
Mike- Thanks. I knew when I saw him and he was the quiet one in the shelter I wanted him. Their rules to keep them and take them to the vet to be neutered, no way around that. But at least at that point I knew he'd be mine. He still amazes me daily...
Scrinch- I never found a helmet that would fit the shape of Archies head so the Doggles and his 'leather' jacket was his biker outfit. He was a patched member of Biker Dogs M/C. You should sign Persis up if you haven't. I'll sign Henry up after we get a few more miles under his feet. I already e-mailed Jesse Lane and let him know I found another good riding buddy.

Fantastic Tom. Sounds like you and Henry are going to put on lots of miles together. He will not replace Archie, but will take his place in your heart as well. I have only met you and Archie once in Chelan last spring, but I could see the bond you two had. Hope to meet you and Henry on the road again.

Tom, although no one can ever replace Archie, isn't it great that the heart is able to expand to make room for another special friend like Henry.

Tom , I just read about Archies passing in the Sidecarist. Sorry for your loss. Archie was a very socialble fellow.
Great photo of Henry , glad to hear that he enjoy's riding . Hopefully see you and Henry in Chelan in 2011 and at the NW region rally in July.

Thanks Buck. I haven't received the Sept/Oct issue yet. Last one was July/Aug and it was an excellent issue. We're still working out the details of a NW regional for next summer but we are working on it. I hope Henry rides with me until we're both a whole lot older and grayer... I sure didn't think I'd find another canine companion that would compare to Archie but it's beginning to look like there's hope after all.

Hi Tom. He's a great looking pup! We are anxious to meet him and see you again. Probably next summer. I think our Mindy will like him too. Here's an interesting photo of Archie and Mindy on our trip back from John Day.
Take care,
Ralph and Peggy

Thanks Ralph and Peggy. That was a fun stop on a great trip. Henry has met several other dogs in the short time I've had him and got along well with all of them. He's only a year old so he's much more exuberant than Archie was. I doubt hooking the leashes together with Mindy would work as well as it did with Archie. She'd have to be the "baby sitter." He's sure learning to ride in the sidecar well. The riding season will be winding down rapidly here now but we sure can't complain about the past few weeks!!

Hey Friends,
Nana the Irsh setter/Golden Retriever bread passed by last July,
Sunday we picked up an abonded Golden Retriever from the street who might become a new sidecar buddy for me and my daughter.....
lHe looks neat although very skinny and full of scars.
But how he eats that will not last long...
The name he got Lucky Luke might be an omen.

A chear on all 4 feeted riders.
Sven
