Hello all. I'm Hass. 35 yo in Thumb of Michigan.. Thought I'd say hi to you and tell ya alittle about me..
I just bought my first sidecar its on a 77 Honda Goldwing ..The car is a Watsonian Monaco classic.. I bought it from a lady that lost her husband.. who bought the bike and cart new..She was able to give me all the papers and tons of extra parts.. I think the guy knew what he was doing as he replaced the front forks and also put an air ride system on the bike..I have to rebuild the motor ( no compression ) but got such a great deal i had to get it.. i have books on all of it includeing a book that tells you how to learn to use a side cart.. Putting a few pics on .. I plan on selling this unit but still trying to find the right value to put on it... I also have a 77 Hondamatic if anyone needs a no cluch bike

Welcome to the sidecar world, Hass. That's a great rig with tons of potential. You might decide to keep it for yourself once you get it up and running again.

Welcome aboard Hass! That's a sweet looking "Old School" setup you have there! With that leading link front suspension, I think you will find that it is a joy to pilot. Another reason I think Lee is right in that you will wana keep it once you finish it. As you can prolly tell from my handle, I like the older stuff!

Side Note Re: your CB750: There is a Honda SOHC4 club (70's CBs) doing a relay/rally that will touch all 48 contiguous states plus much of Canada this summer. It will be coming to Michigan prolly around July. I'm going to ride part of it with my CB550 then do the UP portion on my rig with the mrs and pooch in the tub.

Let me know if you want details.

Bruce

nice rig there,..there are several of those old time wings around , an engine swap out would be very easy and affordable to do, I believe you have 4 or 5 model years to draw from for a straight swap,./.a few more with only a couple of small mods,...good luck with it, cheers crawf.... Hmm! I'll be heading to Chicago with the truck at easter,...Hmmmmmmm! LOL!

just remembered,..no compression eh???? I had an '81 1100 wing in my shop a friend owned,...the starter engagagement ( stupid spring loaded, return piece of s@%& ) would not allow engagement or rotation of the engine,..it is located behind the clutch basket at rear engine,..remove, split and free up was all it required,..the owner failed to change his oil regularly and the sludge bound up the starting clutch return springs , it would roll over only half the engine, and never fire, it sat for the winter and wouldn't start in spring, ..research it , chilton/haynes and see if that helps ya,....good luck, crawf.

As for the bike i have another 77 goldwing that i do ride. Between me and father-n-law we have 6 of the goldwing from 76- 79.. i took a look closer at the bike and i think it might be a simple fix after all it has compression if you push it in gear but none with starter.. think something gone wrong with starter.... We are in the middle of building a polebarn so i can auctaly have my stuff at home and a place to work on it as well ... this unit has set in a building for 6 yrs without being touch untill i bought it so i know theres a lot to do to get it back in shape the right way.. but i am relived that the brakes didnt lock or dry out they all 3 set works

the assemby is called the sprag clutch,...it is located on rear of clutch basket shaft responsible for starter engagement,..3 spring loaded rollers around the basket shaft to grip and spin it,..an ugly spot, but an easy fix,..good luck , crawf.
