Been awhile since last post. I need advice on a possible purchase of an older Motorvation Formula II to install with my naked 1977 Goldwing, would this be a good combo. And are there any area I should be aware to look for on the sidecar. Any and all adice or opinions welcome. Thanks

I have a FII motorvation also.I love it!! but... make sure it is the 'flip nose ' model. for ease of entry and exit..also easy to pack with 'stuff'.
mine is a 2001 model I bought 2 years ago with less than 100 miles on it.

I don't think it is the flip nose judging by pics I have seen. What do you think it might be worth? Has all mounting for wing needs windshield and maybe some paint.

value is hard to determine...depends on the seller and buyer...how bad they want o sell and buy.
I bought my new [less than 100 miles on it ] flip nose 2001 model 2 years ago[was 3 yrs old] for $3000. it was painted, has crome bumpers, rack on back, top with windows, electric trim adjuster, chrome car wheel/tire, chrome mounting brackets and mounts, also the dolly wheel set from the factory, for moving it around when off the bike.
If I were you I would wait/look for a flip nose model to show up. nuch more convenient.I looked for 2 years before I found mine, but I have seen more around now.

Many won't need or want a flipnosed car. It depends on your projected use. If you have passengers who are handicapped or not agile enough to enter a top loader and may need help or support entering or exiting, they are invaluable.
Some solid bodied cars are more weathertight than flips. Less parts to go haywire, some flips rattle a bit.
An idea on pricing can be gleaned from Kelly or NADA appraisel guides but the actual value lies in the condition, accessories, extras, with or sans mountings and availability of repair parts, if needed.
NAPA shows an average condition STD. Formula II 20 years old at around $800. Ten year old at about $1,800. With TILT and other extras they would be worth more.
Supply and demand of certain models will also enter into local area pricing.

If the mounting parts are indeed for a Wing like yours you'll save about $400 or $500 over buying them separately for another car.

From what I gather, it was mounted on an 83 wing has all mounts. Needs windshield and maybe some paint. Current owner not sure what year it is some sort of trade I believe. Does have lean. Wants $1000. Not sure what shape suspension is in though haven't looked at it yet. I'm the one in a wheelchair so not worrying to much about the flip nose would be nice I bet, so I'm looking for a 3rd wheel so to speak. Wife will be my ballast........ She's able bodied so she would be able to climb in with no probs.

The lean is a really nice feature. It would be very nice to make handling easier on varied roads. I don't know anythng about the value but getting all of the mounts in one purchase is also very good.

Good luck!

Sounds like a good deal to me. Maybe Jay or Lonnie can pipe in as to whether the GL1000 and GL1100 mounts interchange.

Sounds like a good deal to me. The flip nose is nice but even without it this sidecar is not a bad one to get in and out of.If it has the old lower ball and collet mounts I would replace them of at least figure on doing that at some later date.

I appreciate all the input. This is such a great site for a newbie like myself. I'll post later to let you all know how I make out.

As Claude said: the old style ball & collet mounts may need changing, as the collets were made of aluminum and had a tendency to wear if they got loose. The balls were smaller than the URAL/Dnepr ones but not tiny like the older CSC cars. Quite servicable if in good condition. The URAL sized ones are easily attainable from vendors at this site or you could change over to Heim jount lower mounts, also available here.
