I've had little luck finding a simple chart, formula or conversion table to offer approximate sizing should one consider substituting automobile tires on a rig. Any help out there?

Not all that hard to work out. Motocycle metric sizing always ends in a 0 while automotive ends in a 5. Sizes are rounded. So if you have a 160 motorcycle tire you would be looking at either a 155 or 165 automotive tire. All other sizing is pretty much the same.
Diameter wise motorcycle and automotive rim sizes are close enough not to matter in any size except for 15 inch. For some reason 15 inch motorcycle rims are larger diameter then 15 inch automotive rims so running an automotive tire on a 15 inch motorcycle rim that has not been modified can be difficult or even not safe to mount as you often have to run the air pressure way to high to get them to seat and you can get hurt while doing so.

Thanks Jay. I just am having difficulty getting info online. Oh yeah, I do have your wife's [your or] former rig. I'm having a blast. But as you advised, a 7/33 gear set would make the outfit that much more practical. Suppose we'll talk some in Cour d'Alene.

Did you ever get a down & dirty simple answer on this topic? I find all sorts of information all over the web, but quite honestly too much to read and too little time.

I just got my sidecar in June 2013. I still have the tires that were on there before the conversion, but I'll be due for new tires shortly. I'm thinking I want to convert to the automobile (car) tires, but am struggling with too much information to sift through.

Thank you kindly.

JRNisley

if your enquiry is with regards to your '07 Yamaha RSV then I have the same bike and am running with the following car tire on the rear

Nexen SB-802 165/80R15

If you are trying to calculate a car tire size that will compare to your MC tire diameter or circumference there are a number of sites that can produce those numbers for you. Here's one I've used often:
