Moto Guzzi V9 & Watsonian and other stuff.
Posted by: @brstrThe mistake is when doesn't fit anything you own and it was not viable to send back.
You will just have to be like all the Cubans who make whatever parts they can acquire work on the vehicles they keep running like Frankenstein's Creature!

Bruce, pray tell....
Where did you get this Russell Day Long seat?
What motorcycle is it supposed to fit on to ?
If it's for a motorcycle that you do NOT own, or weren't intending to buy....then ???
I've had 19 of these Russell Day Long seats made for me, each one done in person... and I may schedule to have # 20 made for my newest bike that I bought whilst on this European trip, and will pick up the day after I get back home.

It is for a Suzuki 109.
Didn't realise how massive it was till it arrived via ebay from somewhere in the states.
A gamble that never worked at the time so I fabbed up a complete seat for the Guzzi.
It will get offered up to the s40 as a potential.
Who knows my butt may look bigger on it.....
Not likely.
[Edit from don't to donut..... auto spelling is "soo..?." annoying sometimes]
Edit a second time.... from soon back to the sooo annoying I typed 1st..
May need more donut holes..
Now while I was rediting the previous post a second time I lost this post.....
Which I shall now resubmit......
S40.
Then the Japanese version of that engine which should have been sold globally to my mind.
Then the big butt seat.
I will try and see.
Sidecar?
Possible.
A random thought I entertained and not about this bike but there are kits available.
Is a hardtail.
Probably not with this bike but if a cheap earlier one came up who knows.
We have one inmate with an inspired hardtail build already.
The top 3 pics are the Aussie version that I'm getting.
The Japanese version is just a picture I came across this week.
Didn't know they made it.
But like I said it should have been sold globally, bean counters be given less than due respect.
Carolyn and I catch the bus at 6-50am at our front gate to Rockingham train station.
Then train to East Perth train station using two trains.
From there it's the long bus (14.5m) to Albany.
Arriving @3-05pm to meet up with Brian and relieve him of the bike and me of the remaining cash.
My sister will meet us also and take Carolyn to her house at Takalarup for a few days.
I will follow behind probably.
Then Carolyn will bus home from Mt Barker.
I will explore a little on and with the 40.
Home for Christmas.
Not as exciting as for some and their global wanderings.
But that's fine by me.
Have tickets booked for Cambodia (Jan 21) and we are watching the border dispute with Thailand closely.
Have yet to get a full handle on the logic used to justify hostilities though.
Seems quite petty from here but there's likely stuff we don't get told.
We were going via Siem Reap but may change to Phnom Phen direct from KL.
In the interest of silly ideas.
Not sure I like the overall lines let alone the seat.
The S40 is pretty dog-gone cool. 😎 Looks very light.
Hold my keyboard and watch this! 🙃
Yes nice and light is one attraction.
Simple maintenance is a big one for me.
Brian was saying the after market pipe made an improvement in fuel consumption and lowered the requirement for 98 octane down to 91.
Seemed a bit odd to me but happily so.
Fuel consumption is a thing in this state if the tank only holds 10 litres.
Will see how it goes.
Mods in mind are the Fournales I have had on the shelf for a bunch of years.
And perhaps fork springs with maybe gold valves.
Then again on the shelf are some Givi paniers?
Will see.
Bruce, that Suzuki S40 came from the factory only requiring 85 or higher octane....not 98 octane...ever....unless Australia rates their octane different than the US and all of Europe.
That engine is designed to run on olde stale Pepsi. Runs slightly better if there is a bit of the carbonation bubbles still in the Pepsi, runs a LOT better on Red Bull....as it gives you Wings.
One of the many reasons I stopped owning modern BMW and H-D bikes, is when riding in 3rd World countries it's not always easy to find 95+ octane fuels.
I run all my Goldwings, and my Africa Twin w/DCT on 87 octane....with no loss of power, and no problems.
Enjoy the heck out of your new bike....enjoy your trip to Cambodia....just be aware of what's happening over there.

Miles I've not seen an owners manual yet for an s40.
It will be an Aussie rated version though and I've no idea what the dipsticks specified for it to have an "Australian" compliance plate.
So while it maybe able to run on our 91octane standard it apparently was less than happy with the back pressure of the stock muffler.
And much happier with a less restrictive one.
To the tune of a substantial range increase on 91.
If it runs on red bull I'll call it a commie politician.
"Sick" for short (sickle)
Or should I say "hammer"?
Meanwh8le the fall of western civilisation progresses.
16 dead in Sydney including a holocaust survivor.
Not at all happy with the pollutititions that enabled that situation.
my heart aches for the families who were there and for the entire nation that has to endure the mess(es) that will occur as a result.

Bruce, whilst I won't go into the political discussion on a sidecar forums, or any social media presence in today's World...I do know that you and I are aligned on that subject.
Frankly, what my wife and I have observed, then discussed, following World events, leads us to shut down all International investments, go home, close the gates at the entrance to our property, and ride out cold Winter....and I am not talking about the actual temperature outside.
Oh....Sick Hammer....or...Slammer...or...Hammick... 🥴 good names for the S40.
if you can't find an Owners Manual, and/or a Suzuki Suzuki Service Manual for that S40, let me know. I will find one, or both, and then send them to you.
