The glow plug in the tailpipe gimmick was real popular with the custom car crowd in the early '50's. Caused a few wildfires and MANY tickets (in California and Texas anyway) if the MAN caught you.

Back then the favorite loud horn was a Wolf Whistle. Remember those?

Right, and dummy me forgot the ball bearings. Must be getting old.
One of the members here has the 'flame thrower'deal Bob mentioned set up on his Harley/Spyder rig. He demoed it at the shop one day but I did not have my camera. Pretty impressive!

In my college years I used a deep sea fishing weight loosely wired to my handlebars riding in the Bay area. For some reason I never felt the need to use it once I had it available. Murphy's law inverted?

I had a wolf whistle on my customized '60 ford Falcon. lot of fun till my buddy made it sound like a siren , with all the cars pulling over to the side of the streets...unfortuntely, a cop also heard it.......and wrote out a ticket with a fine....those were the days
